Default What A Contraption!!

Holy Smokes look at this contraption!!

I dont know weather this guy is generating electricity of just gave up traditional methods of engine starting. Saw it on Ebay, I don't think I'd want one of his engines.

Ya'll be nice now. It looks to me like this setup could be used as a 1/2A engine dyno. Now that would be a useful tool to compare engines, eh?

It would be very interesting to see how much of an electrical load this dynamo can handle.

It's an APU for a 6 engined 1/2A Spruce Goose?

Hi Rog, The guy is selling the three engines.

DB, Ha a Dyno that's a good one. As far as 1/2A Dynos go I think CP's "Hot Dog Chopping index" is a much better measure of real world power!

It would be a good way to get comparative measurements with the motor output going into a watt meter and dummy load. That hex drive system needs to be scrapped, changed to a flex shaft.

Didn't the Spruce Goose have eight engines? Saw one at SMALL several years ago when it was still in Maumelle. The gentleman had eight (?) Cox TD .010's. I thought I was seeing a miracle when all were running and flew the plane!

Hey MAN, BRUCE says it has 6. Seriously, what you did see was a miracle. What are the odds that 8 COX engines could be running at the same time anywhere in the world without one of them seizing up?

I need to rig something like that up as an apu/gtc for my big c-130....!

I was kind of wondering about the prop too.... wouldn't that be kinda hard on prop blades?
