Default Aileron control throws on contest plane?

Hi guys, I'm wondering what to set the control throws on my contest plane at for it's maiden flight. This is the first 1/2a plane I'll be flying with ailerons. Low wing, two channel ailerons and elevator only. It's got a swept back Ace tapered chord wing with a span of about 36" The ailerons are 7/8" wide, and run the full length of each side. I don't want to over control, but want the thing to be able to turn too. I was thinking maybe 3/16" or a 1/4"? Thanks for your input!

1/4 total, as in plus and minus 1/8 from neutral, would be a good place to start. It'll be crisp but controllable at that setting.

I 2nd that motion, it takes less aileron travel to fly than most people realize. I hate to "run out" of elevator on a first flight though, so if I'm gonna be fighting a touchy control on a test flight, I can deal with the elevator being a little bit jumpy, but it sure is a hand full when both controls are set too high.

Thanks BM & CP, I'll go with 1/8" in both directions. I sure didn't want to snap roll the thing into the ground right off the bat! I'm sure it's going to handle a whole lot different than my Extra Easy high wing trainer. I can always dial in more throw after I get used to it if needed. That is, if it will fly at all!
