Default Trouble posting pics!!!

Hey Guys, I've been having a real hard time getting my pics on the forum. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm only uploading a 850 kb pic and although it says it supports 3000 kb it comes back as the file is too large! It took like 5 tries last night to get the pics of my Whizard to get uploaded, and tonite, I can't get my contest plane pics to go[] Help Please?

KB and kb are two different things. (kilobytes and kilobits) Divide one by 8 to get the other. Your pictures are just too big. You should be able to get them closer to 50kb or less.

Deopends on the formatof the original picture. If you save it as a .jpeg the RCU software will compress it as needed, it will load easily and you wont have to worry about it.

I save all mine as .jpeg to upload.

Well, I'm still not getting it done. The pics are jpeg format at 850KB each and it still says the file is too large although it says 3000KB supported. I had to upload one pic at a time last nite to get the Whizard pics on the forum and it took like an hour and a half to get it all up! I'm still not understanding whats wrong.

You need to resize them to somewhere around 640x480. As a medium resolution .jpg, your pics should come out at about 150k each or less. That's what I do for all my pics and they're plenty clear. 4 files at a time can be uploaded with no problem.

Good luck!

Well... this is the engine in a "Thunder Mustang," it's 1,537 KB. Let's see what happens.

OK, it loaded fine, but the compression did take a while. If you are on a slow connection that may be the problem - times out before it's finished the upload. Don't want to make you jealous, but my connection is really fast. See the second picture. Have to admit that one was the exception, I usually run around 6.5-7.0 mb/sec.

Sorry, forgot that one was a .bmp - just click on the line, it comes up.

What browser are you using? I found it was completely impossible to upload pics to RCU using Netscape. Switched to Mozilla Firefox and it's worked perfectly ever since. I do size them around 800x600 or so, but I haven't tested to see if that was really necessary. Jim

I'm not sure what compression you're talking about Will. That bitmap is a huge file.

Prop, using ANY photo editing software you can adjust the size and compression of a jpeg. Play around a little, an 800x600 picture should be compressed down to about 50-75KB.

PT:

The original picture was 1024x768, 15+ mbits. The RCU import software cut the image to 800x600, and compressed it to 1.4 mbits.

Here's the same picture as a .jpg, it's cut to 64 mbits, on my m onitor it still looks very good.
