Cox prop hub and crankase ground down
I got a cox production engine from a guy at the field that said he was having a hard time starting it. I noticed there was a little extra forward and backward play in the crankshaft. Turns out he used an electric starter and because it was covered in black oil I'm assuming he ground the hub and crankcase a little.
Will there be long term problems? Leakage etc?
Also for this reason because there is no gasket or washer between the hub and crankcase, can a cox be used as a pusher?
Thanks for your input.

I think the KILLERBEE has a hard steel washer to accomodate electric starting. I have used a washer from a TD to do the same thing. It is axial play that you don't want, end play isn't as big a problem. You can press out the crank in a vise and insert a hard steel washer fairly easily.

Some TDs used a fiber washer. I have also made them from brass sheet stock. The key is to get rid of all the burrs.
If you sandwich thin stock between thicker stuff you can punch it clean.
