Cox 7.2 X 4.5 pusher prop/Norvel .074?
Has anyone tried this combination yet? Very flexible prop, much more than the usual rubber ducky. I would like to use it on the B-70, and I'm hoping that since this prop is so flexible, that it will de-pitch enough to be useful. The big question concerns whether it will hold up or disintegrate...

Never have, but it sounds like a very specific prop, decimal points and all. If the .074 doesn't seem happy with it, just take away diameter until the thrust is to your liking. It's nice to have a sacrificial prop and some kind of thrust gauge though, to tell when enough is enough. The rubber props can also be depitched by twisting the blades at the root.

Is this the cox prop for electric?

I got a few of those in a lot off ebay.. really bendy.. I wonder if it would fall apart on a glow engine..
The plastic seems soft enough that unless it's severed blades hit your eye, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it failed..

How about a Zinger 7X3.5? A wood pusher might need to be replaced every few flights though.

Man, I hate wood props...When I was breaking in my first .074, I tried a 6-4 zinger and 6-4 Cox gray. The wood prop cost over 1000 RPM and produced much less thrust. I'll try just about anything to avoid using 'em.

There are some pushers in nylon here
http://virginiahobbysport.com/propellers.htm
but the world seems to be devoid of 7" props of any selection..
Maybe if we nag cox, they will make the proper .09 tee dee props again, and the .074 norvels will be happy too..
I wonder if that cox .09 prop was ever made in pusher?

Pricey? Have you tried to buy a Cox 7X3.5 on eBay lately? I have about 15 of them, and there are times I wonder if I should keep 'em in a safe deposit box...

You probably should hold on to your stock of Cox grey competition props as it's my understanding that the molds for these props were destroyed, probably on purpose by the idiot that owns Estes.
All of them are in extremely short supply as in almost unobtainable. Try getting a 5/3 ot the 4/2.
Truly sad to see the end of the Cox line. Most don't even care that when Ested bought Cox they never from that day forward ever advertised in any model mag or trade publication. They completely abandoned the hobby market and only sold off motors made from the stock of parts on hand. The new production motors are so bad that they aren't worth any price. No hi compression heads and too high a price for the sport version. Soft spot or not I'm not using much in the line of Cox right now except to put the remaining supply of motors on some 1/2A planes for display purposes for a store.

RE: Cox 7.2 X 4.5 pusher prop/Norvel .074?
Oh, I have probably 150-200 Cox props, lots of 5x3, 6x3, 6x4 & a few 4x2 & 3x1.5 & 3x1.25, both gray and black, but the 7x3.5s are like hen's teeth. I'm swamped in 6x2 pushers... I doubt that the molds were destroyed, as the black & gray props were made in the same molds, just different materials. If someone could negotiate some kind of deal with Estes to produce those props again without them having to do anything but collect royalties, I bet they would be interested.

RE: Cox 7.2 X 4.5 pusher prop/Norvel .074?
I agree that Cox props are superior to virtually any that you can name. I've proved this to myself by direct comparison on the same engine, same day, same plane.
What surprised me though was that one day, I swapped in a 6 X 3 black and it pulled the Low Stik better than the 6 X 3 grey that it replaced. I've read it many times about the rubber ducky prop. It shouldn't work as well as it does but it does.
So now, not only do I wish I could get more 7 X 3.5s but I'd love to try a black in the same size. Anyone know if they ever made that size in black?
