Default Miss Conduct Design Contest Build

Well I should just post this on the contest site but I didn't know how often you other guys look at the posts there. This is close to my final draft of my "Miss Conduct". I think I may flip the stab around to the other side but other than that I hope to buy the wood for it this weekend and start cutting ASAP. The bonus to this project is that I am going to build 2 planes. One for the contest and one just to hang in my friends new baby's room. I would really like to try to make the fuse and cockpit pod out of fiberglass. At least do lost foam or something along those line. What do you all think?

LAter,
Tim

That is one sweet design! I think I would flip the stab around too... Then it would be perfect!

Hey man, somebody stole major sections of your p38 j/k

I think it's great to see people taking on an exrtra-ordinary aircraft, and that jobbie there aint normal. I'm just wondering if the pod side will have gobs more drag than the non-pod wing, giving it massive right yaw, I can see you were probably thinking you needed the extra lift for the pod weight. Dunno, but I would think you may need some far left moment drag to fight the right yaw.... like a super high aspect wing out to the far left. Maybe not, just a gut feeling.

post soon, post often, the post again

Interesting and very different. It seems to me that it is hard to know for sure what will work with those asymetric designs when you don't have a wind tunnel and balance. I guess the best you can do is estimate the moments and cg and try to get them into some king of equilibrium. My hat is off to you for your adventuresome spirit!

Thanks guys!!!

Rog,

The ailerons are both working in the same direction i.e. both up or down at the same time . I think I might put ailerons on the other side not sure yet. I just got back from buying balsa so I'll start cutting tonight.

KE,

Notice that the main fuse is just slightly off center to the left. The wing panels are the same length. I do need to flip the stab when I build it. The drag from the tail feathers will equal everything out and fly straight as an arrow. The CG is at around 25% .

LAter,
Tim

Tim

Tim, if you can keep that plane in the air for 60 seconds, you've got my contest vote! If there was a seperate vote for spirit of the contest, you've got it too. Good luck!

So the radio gear or at least the Rx and servos go in the pod on the wing?

I originally thought the pod was an insert view of the engine fairing or something and wrote a rather scathing post. BUt now that I realize there's a pod out there then I think this thing may just work out.

BUt move the left side aileron to the left side of the main fuselage. Where it is now it'll just act like a wing flap only.

This is the most interesting Design for the contest so far. Get it to fly and it has my vote.
BTW ... that looks like a real comprehensive and expensive drafting program you are using coupled with the finest imported paper.

Alright, I gotta ask. Why is the horizontal stab sticking out to the wrong side?

I'm starting to get a little bit worried, I might actually HAVE to vote for this sucker, cuz it looks like he's serious enough to make it fly........OK TIM, to get my REAL VOTE it has to do perfectly AXIAL rolls .

Foilslabbed....SWR TECHNOLOGY.

By the time HITLER got around to approving these designs for developement, wasn't he already riddled with syphyllus?

After building a successful assymetrical observation plane, Blohm & Voss continued with the concept for later proposals.

Interesting design -- and a good move keeping the engine on the main boom instead of in the pod!
