Default Kadetito

I bought some Sure Starts a few years ago when they were around $6. Last fall when MAN was having a sale on their plans I found the Kadetito which looked interesting. I tore apart the .049 to clean out, I didn't find any shavings but there was some metal dust inside. I was going to cover the plane in the traditional Sig Senior design but somehow strayed. I had a Cox 6X3 which I started out with, but that turned out to be a no go. All I could get was a long descending glide to the other side of the field. I was worried I may have built it a little heavy. I next tried a 6X4 prop, and off it goes no problem. I had an extra servo so I built my Kadetito with ailerons, which are OK, but they are not really necessary. The rudder has tons of authority and would fly fine just 3 channel.

It will fly on an 049 but does better on an 09 to 1.0. G Mark 6cc 1.0s are still out there.

Oops. it is a G Mark 1.0 cc, 0.61 cubic inches.

They also make a 1.22 CI twin which would be perfect but is hard to find.

I believe the designer flew it on the G Mark 0.61.

Great covering job BTW. Compliments.

Thanks. To tell you the truth I'm happy with the performance of the .049 on it. This one is a keeper .

That is a nice looking job on your project. A friend built one when the plan was first published. He still has it flyis it from time to time.

Since you have tweaked out the 0.49, more power to you.

Do you have throttle function?

No throttle function, just a stock Sure Start. The plans can be found here: http://www.airagestore.com/plans/rc-.../kadetito.html

Very nice! I love Kadets. My first RC plane was a 3 channel Kadet Senior I built from a kit, same colors as yours. Still have it though it needs a few repairs.

Nice lawn Mr. Tee. If you skipped a lawn mow you may have a slot to fix the Kadet...

My neighbors lawn looks like that - makes mine look like cr@p.

Tee Bee's plane makes mine look like cr@p too. []

Nice planes! Thanks for providing the link to the plan...looks like that sale is pretty much permanent. The plan is listed at a discounted price of $7.48. I'm not sure you could get it done at a copy center for that price.

Andrew Donatelli, aka Bipe Flyer, has designed a plane very similar to the Kadetito called the LST (Lynn Sipe Trainer). It's in the sticky at the top of the forum called 1/2A Trainer Anyone? Plans in both zip and pdf version can be found on page 33 of the thread, plus on page 1. A lot of folks have built this plane and all have been very complimentary on the build and flight characteristics.

Would that one be a good first scratch build?

I would think so. It's pretty quick to build, and not too big. If your looking for a first scratch this would be a good one. If you have any questions post them here.

looks like a good winter project...
