Default Plastic Info Wanted

Are there any Plastic Gurus on the forum that can advise on the flavor to use that is 35% Nitro Proof, would turn and machine easily to make a P/Wee back plate.

I looked into this a while back and I think Acrylic rod is the stuff you want.

I thought Acrilic rod was a little brittle. Where the mounting holes are there wouldn't be much meat.

I ended up getting a few SkyCopter backplates for mine. Here's one on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.ca/COX-SKYCOPTER-PAR...QQcmdZViewItem

Skaliwag,
My choice is Delron (Acetal). Very strong, very stiff, and resistant to most solvents. Nylon also makes a very good choise but not as stiff.

Skaliwag --

If you're looking for a supplier, I've purchased both HIPS and PETG (Vivak) from [link=http://www.indplastic.com/]Industrial Plastics [/link] and had good service. They also carry Delrin and a full line of other plastic and synthetic products.

Does Delrin, Delron, or Vivak take a thread amd not strip as easily as the stuff C*x uses on the TD.

Sorry for my misspelling of Delrin. A lot of information about plastics it as http://www.mcmaster.com/. Delrin is often used for gears. If threading, coarse American (UNC) works better than metric. I kind of dough if any better than C*x but I know from personal experience that It holds a thread well as long as you have at least 1 D of thread length.

What flavor is the C*x stuff?
It's moulded for the most part instead of machined. And the thread strips or splits from not too much abuse.

nylon, polypropylene, acetal should be fine, if you get glass filled rod it turns better, dont use acrylic, its attacked by nitromethane causes stress cracks
