Default TD rod reset tool

Does anyone know where to buy a tool to reset the rod/pistons on Cox .049/.051? Competition engines no longer has them. I have searched the forums without any luck. Thanks in advance, Cliff

OUCH! That stinks. I know there's tons of 'em out there somewhere. I'll keep my eyes open for one for you Cliff. You might try posting in the engine parts wanted section here on RCU 1st.

Default Thanks guys!

Thanks Fastlash I am excited to get several motors tuned back up. I also appreciate Dickybird. He has kept my 1/2 A's in the air several times and answered enough questions to drown most people. Take care, Cliff

Default Great idea but.....

PCarrol, its a great idea but we had one and it was taken back down due to lack of activity.

BTW, I finally found a rod resetting tool for myself. I also have been looking for one.
While at a hobby shop that has tons of old stuff in it, I asked if he had any .010 glow heads. The guy behind the counter shuffled some stuff around on the pegboard behind him, and there it was, tucked behind a bunch of Norvel parts. I bought it on the spot. Its old and a little rusty, but at 4 bucks I figured it a heckuva bargain. It even came with instructions !

Next time you are in an older hobby shop, or one in another town, look carefully and you may find one.

Good luck!

strange isn't it. for a limited time Cox was including them in their new engines. I had bought a black widow and a texaco and they both had one in the box.
Yes I know I have 2, I also have the 09 reset tool also. I even found 1/2 dozen of the old Tatone 1/2 A mufflers, a reedvalve tarno carb set up complete with mount,Ace 1.5 in nylon spinners and TD motor mounts. If you stay in this long enough you lose track of all the 'junk' that you accumulate. Who ever thought that it might be a treasure someday

Were there two parts to the rod tools , a round cupped anvil & a punch with the rod slot ? All I have is the punch part & have been using it with a thick piece of aluminum for years. That OK ?? >>>>>big max 1935

Default Tool

The orginal has a cup that the piston goes into and it has a raised center about the diameter of the ball cup on the piston, its not flat, so the resizing is focused on the ball cup its self, and not the hole piston!!!
