Push-Up: Another Laumer Plan Restoration
I was flipping through "How to design and build FLYING MODELS" and found a plan for an .020 FF model called "Push-Up". I pieced everything together, added a scale indicator and put the entire plan into a single image.
The book was published in 1960. Does anyone know how to check if the Copyright was renewed? This would be a great one for 1/2A all the way, or Dave Fritzke's site.

Wikipedia:
The name 'crinoline' was invented by one of the fabric's manufacturers, who combined the Latin words crinis (meaning hair) and linum (meaning flax). An alternative origin for the word is sometimes given: the combination of the French words crin (specifically meaning horse-hair) and lin (again, meaning flax).
Also worn by either Simon or Garfunkel, I can't remember which one sang it:
What a dream I had
Pressed in organdy
Clothed in crinoline
Of smoky burgundy
Softer than the rain
Ah, the sixties.

Keith renewed the copyright in 1988.
This is where you can look this stuff up:
http://www.copyright.gov/records/
So, who is watching over his stuff now?
I have litte doubt that someone has control over
his work. Aren't they still printing some of his
Sci-Fi stuff? I would assume it is family unless
they were "bought out" by a publisher or a broker.

I guess I could email and ask his daughter.

Harrrumph -- most of you young'uns aren't old enough to remember petticoats, poodle skirts, bobby socks and DA's. There may be a few of us floating around on here, but not many I'll guess.

Bipe, that really brings back memories--I remember sitting in the town library studying that plan and thinking I could use my junior high drafting skills to scale it up to proper size (I believe it called for scaling up 1 1/2 x).
Those designs have such a simple charm to them. One on my "must do" list is the Lulla-Bi, a trike gear cabin biplane. The wingspan is 24 inches. I would scale it up a little for an .07 or .09. The rudder on it is the same as on the Push-Up.
I think the sci-fi KL is a different guy, by the way.
This turned out to be an interesting thread on Crinoline. I'm using silk these days--is Crinoline stronger?

He's definitely the same guy. The pictures and bios on the SF author websites match those in in the RC mags and his book.

The Lulla-Bi is a real cutie - like a biplane version of the Twin Lizzie.

Very interesting--and no doubt about it.
Yes, that Lulla-Bi is one of his prettiest. I first saw it in the collection of plans that FM published as the book, "A Decade of Designs", and later picked up the magazine on ebay. I want to do one in clear doped, colored silk.

Andrew, some of us see crinoline petticoats almost weekly, not to mention poodleskirts, saddleshoes and such at 50's theme dances. I guess you just have to be a Square Dancer to see that kind of stuff these days
It's too bad some of these young un's aren't interested in that kind of stuff[&o]
