I thought i would join you all guys here as it seems to be the biggest small engined forum around.
I am a 24 year old Tank loader/Radio operator from England.
I started flying at the age of 7 and passed my British licence the same year. I learnt to fly on a aerobatic biplane called a Panic and then went on to a Precident Hiboy trainer. When i joined the army at 15 i stopped flying but have now decided to get back flying again. I have a Thunder Tiger GP07 from ebay for 16 GBP and have just brought a 2 channel [link=http://www.angliamodelcentre.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_4&products_id=47]Mini Skyman[/link].
This aircraft will be converted to haveing a throttle and ailerons aswell so a couple of questions on this plane.
Will mini servos all round be ok?
What size tank shall i use 2oz or 1oz?

I would also like to think about my next kit/plan, i saw the excellent pitts biplane that was done and i wondered if there was anything like that about for the general public which could also use the TT 07 engine as all my kits will use this engine. I am england so a plan or a url to a site that sells the kits would be great.
Thanks again and Hallo

Welcome! Since you sound at least moderetly experienced May I suggest The DNU? Free plans and lots of advice in this thread!
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_29...tm.htm#2984629
THe servos sound fine. You can get lighter ones as time goes by.

Normally I would suggest the 2 oz tank but since the TT 07 is not the powerhouse that others are, I suggest the one once to save weight.

Here is another really wonderful place for plans which have no cost:
http://my.pclink.com/~dfritzke/

This should get you started.

Use a 2OZ tank - the TT .07 isn't exactly miserly in the fuel consumption department.

Here are a couple of my planes that use a TT .07. Just let me know if you want the plans.

Bipe - you must keep that field like a putting green! Never seen a 1/2a plane take off and land on grass that easily.

Say, that mini-skyman looks pretty nice. It shouldn't take long to get your thumbs back into shape. Bipe's "Bipe-Stik" has been close to the top of my list for quite awhile. The plans are outstanding and the airplane looks like a great flier. It would make the best second airplane I can think of.

Here is a site I keep forgetting about that has a bunch of free plans and stories from the likes of Air Trails and such. Many of the planes could be converted to R/C Some are very radical and just plain odd.

You fellows who like reading Laumer stories check out the old stories there! Cool art work for many of them!
Everytime I run across it I wind up spending way too much time there!!

Here is the link
http://www.arts.ualberta.ca/~idesign/archive.html

Oh! and Dan, that last site I recomended, you know, the one with the control line models. Don't cast it aside just yet. Here is a link to one that has been turned into a modern, quite successful flying R/C model! There are videos of this plane. Here is the link:

You can download the plan from the "1/2A All the Way!" community site. http://groups.msn.com/12Aalltheway

Here's a direct link to the plan.
http://ca.msnusers.com/12Aalltheway/...ipe%2DStik.zip

When you're ready for something a little more snappy, build a DNU. It's a great design.

Indeed! But a warning to all. You can wind up spending way too much time there! I know I have!

Dan --

It looks like both of Andrew's sites are currently down -- since that's the case, I suspect that it is either a server or network problem in Canada. Give it a few hours and try again.

Yeah, we had a severe storm yesterday with 100KM/H winds and a lot of rain. Something like 200,000 people lost power, including my server host.[:@]
