Reedie crank with BEEF
I was going through my reedie cranks and one stands out big time.
All the others are a little under 1/4" dia. however this one is well over 1/4" dia.
other main difference from std reedie crankshaft is there is no knurl for the drive end. This one is cone shaped.
Cox Dune Buggie application possibly? I used to have one of those once. Ran it sensless!

RE: Reedie crank with BEEF
Robert,
You in fact have a Cox car crank. The weak point of Cox reedie cranks is not so much the main shaft rather it's the crank web and crankpin end.

Don't forget that the bigger the diameter mating surfaces take more power to turn.........so unless you intend to either turbocharge or supercharge a Cox reedie, the stock diameter is sufficient to last quite awhile [for airplane use]. The Davis crank has better metallurgy.

RE: Reedie crank with BEEF
Great info guys! Thanks!
I had one of the dune buggies once. Ran the everluvin' snot out of it. Yes I figured out how to get reedeis a going by myself. If memory serves ( and it don't always. ) This Bee motor had the standard bore crank in it with the knurled tip. So I am guessing the cars in question may have been the spur gear cars?
