RE: Servos' Little Something Extra.
El Cheepo GWS on the throttle and HS-81's everywhere else. I just bent mine last weekend after I changed radio systems... Yup you guessed it... Preflight check; "everything moves, check, let's fly"... reversed ailerons[:@] That's okay the purple was getting old. so I will recover the entire plane and see if I can lose some weight in the proccess. If anyone is interested in the rebuild, more so what the frame looks like without the skin I can post some pics when I get her stripped. My main goal will be to eliminate the 3/4oz of lead on the tail so I will modify something

RE: Servos' Little Something Extra.
Boy are those HS-81's expensive! I've been looking into mid sized servo's and I've have decided that they are too expensive. I'm going to stick HS-55sr or smalle and full sized stuff unless there is a cheaper alternative?
I have flown up to 28 oz on HS-55's.

RE: Servos' Little Something Extra.
I think that a lot depends on what engine your gonna use, & how you intend to fly it. At one end, with the factory recommended .074, the smaller servos would be fine, then at the other end with a fire breathing .15 (or larger, as some guys have done) the 81 would probably be the better choice. Another thing to consider is the servo location. I don't have access to a real flying field, so can't use a landing gear. Found out (in a hurry) with a Mini Ultra Stick, that the 55 will shed gear teeth if your landing in a field with tall vegetation. After that incident(s) I use the 81s mounted on top of the wing. ....... STANG, yes would like some pics to see what the innards of this thing looks like. Am particularly interested if you are successful in sheding some weight off this plane. ...................... George K.

I use HXT 900s on ailerons and they seem fine. Plain GMS Naros for rudder, elevator and throttle.
The HXTs have long enough leads to make it from the ailerons out the holes in the wing. Naros would have required an extension, so I was glad the HXTs worked.

RE: Servos' Little Something Extra.
On my Norvel .074 powered Lil Extra I have HS45s for the ailerons and HS55's for everything else. Originally the ailerons had HS55's but the pots starting going bad. The HS45's have a beefier geartrain but only slightly lower torque than the 55's. So far lots of flights with this combo with no problems.
