Default The new "Cox classic" engine?

Some people with their imaginative descriptions. Here is one you can all snicker about:

A classic cast block? Get real!

I saw that too. It made me laugh. Creative marketing at it's best (and worst).

cheers, Graham

I realize the picture is dim but the crankcase does appear to be a die casting with ribs. I have a drawer full of Cox engines and they all have a crankcase machined from an extrusion and not cast.

I don’t know what the advantage would be but the engine doesn’t look like a typical Cox.

My understanding is those (and I got 5 of them) are the bottom of the barrel cases they used at the very last of the production run/assembly, cause its all they had left to use and they are old cases........more power cause of better cooling...thats classic...Rog

This kind of crankcase is similar to the one used in the RCBee Type Cox engines.

My understanding is that the cast cases were a failed attempt at cost reduction..... in 1978. They have been kicking in storage for all this time and were used at the end. They ware poorly and are heavy.

Graham, I did realise that this was not the first of the "new" production engines to go on *bay nor will it be the last. I simply thought the title description was humorus to us, the knowlegable and at the same time, misleading to the uninformed. This thread is also a way to us to poke fun at such whimsical descriptions! It also serves to make those who are not up to date on things aware of what is going.

I am glad it is serving its intended purpose.

Thanks everyone!
