Imagine how much lighter that plane could be built today? Judging from the article, there was much more that a guy needed to know back then to be involved with RC.

THANK YOU! I have always liked the Mini Mono. I tried buying the magazine on ebay but when I got it the Mini Mono page had been torn out.

Are you building one?

Jim

cp, yes, I really admire the fact that those early r/c'ers were often electricians, ham operators, engineers, designers and craftsmen. It really was a jack-of-all-trades hobby in the days before my time. This thing could be built around 6ozs I guess and a TD .020 would make it a lot of fun.

Jim, I have a few projects that I have to finish up first. PM me your email address (I may already have it) and I'll send you a copy.

BTW, I finally got a decent set of scale Waterman Aerobile plans. I just need to pick up a BB .15 (it's a pusher). I'd love to get one of these Enya SS BB .15's with the TN carb:

Darn my other projects! I have known about this plane for some time now and wanted to build it and show it off here before somone else did!

I have only gotten so far as the two fuselage sides and the bulkheads that go just in front of and in back of the wing... Total weight for this assembly so far is 4.9 grams!

When I get some light tommorrow I will get a pic posted, hopefully so that the scale can be read. I don't have a great camera (1.3 megapixel) and the flash does not seem to work anymore. I saw this plane and knew it had to be built!

Well, here it is but as I suspected, no cooperation with the wind, light and resolution from junky camera.

Robert

This is crazy. I just pulled my own partially built Mini Mono out of the storage area in the floor joists and was looking at finishing it as A-E-T mini electric.

The crazy thing is that it was started back when the article first came out with the idea of using my Ace pulse setup in it just like the article.

I'll get a pic of it later. Complete with the water stain from the leaky roof about 14 or so years ago....
