Default 1/2A Sure Shark

I just received my August Flying Models and it has a great lookin' 1/2A by a David Woods.

I'm pretty sure that he is one of us here, but I'll let him revel himself, if he wants the credits.

He also has short kits and I'm ordering a couple of those.

Crap, the only bookstore we have (books-a-million, but nothing to read) has quit carrying FM. A trip to Savannah may be in order. (better bookstores and a Harbor Freight) Until then, congratulations Dave! I'm sure it's a great article or I wouldn't be buying a magazine![sm=thumbs_up.gif]

How the heck is it that you got your August copy in Lubbock, friggin' TX, Larry?! I live, literally THREE MILES from Carsten's publishing and I always get my issue late! That's it, I'm gonna have a talk with Frank. I'll be on the lookout for your plane when I get this issue, Dave!

Whoops - Bad manners on my part . . .

Since I write the CL Combat column in FM every other month I get a copy from the printer a bit early. In my exuberance over the SS I didn't stop and think that most folks had not yet popped a brew open, put the feet above the heart, and perused the Aug issue.

I will endeavor to be behaved in future posts.

Oh, Matt, not so very long ago Lubbock was a prime hot bed of 1/2A activity and deserving of early deliveries.

Buzz I think your mail-person needs to take a crack at it first before he delivers it to you.

There's nothing like a nice clean well performing design to represent the 1/2A flyers.

Youse guys need to know how well-mannered the Sure Shark is.

But first you need to know that Dave is one of those designers who takes the time and effort to build and test several prototypes before he "turns it loose". You can bet that it meets his (high) standards and you won't be disappointed at its performance. We here in the inter-galactically renowned Carolina 1/2A Crew have been witness to the development of the SS - seen it with different engines, dihedral, and CG changes. This one has been thoroghly tested.

Now, back to her behavior. Well, I guess you'll just have to take our word for it - that it flys as good as it looks. But if you still need convincing I suggest that you come to Rog's next fly-in this Fall where you will no doubt see a gaggle of them.

Alas, there is a downside - and I wasn't going to mention it - and I have had to struggle to overcome my inherent modesty and just let it slip in passing that it's doubtful that a Sure Shark will surpass my Sheetface in the Reedie race. There I've said it and let the trash talk commence .

Stewart,

"Smell like roses"? Nah I'm afraid not.

Waaait a minit - that was a pretty "sheet-y" joke.

Raymond, you're too kind! Thank you for the words. Funny you should mention the Sheet Face because if you look closely in one of the photos in the article you can see your Shark Face - another super fast bird - sitting on the flight table. I think that's Bob H's dad in the background. The photo was taken at the last race, but I don't know who took it.

Dave,
Its not surpriseing the shureshark is a good flyer- it just looks right, I think your design would even be difficult to build into a poorly flying model, its construction is simple and self aligning to a great degree, if it wasnt for the high postage on kits I'ed have bought 1 of yours from you, but the plan is on my to build list

As you well know I don't like to complain (OK maybe once in a blue moon - like two days from now) but this time I think delivery of my FM is even slower than Bob's - I haven't gotten mine yet. Hey, maybe Bob's complaining got the mailman mad at both of us.

Well, I don't care what anybody says, most planes with "Shark" or "Face" in the name are destined to fly well - otherwise people would laugh - and I hate when that happens.

Man, I'm off the grid for a few days and there's posts everywhere! That there is a nice lookin' plane!

Not quite as nice as the 1/2A ARF (that's almost ready to feed) my wife and I brought home from the hospital this morning though... I'm a daddy to a bee-u-ti-ful little girl--best 1/2A model EVER. Time to go bond.[8D]

Look who woke up!! No names but requires an appointment.

Congrats BB! did you name her Vic?[sm=regular_smile.gif]

I plan to stop in soon to pick mine up Dave.

Mentioning Crew members could get ugly...
I figure I am safe since I didn't make the last race. [X(]

Nah, but that was her great-grandad's name. We named her Ione after her great-great grandmother. But I'm way off the topic of 1/2A's that like castor oil.
