Default Norvel .074 question

Allso posted this in the Norvel area. I picked up a Norvel .074 yesterday in a swap meet with a beautiful little plane, ready to fly, for $60. Got it running today and notice bubbles from around the glow plug retainer. After removal, I see that the glow plug is pretty bad off, the copper shims are in rough shape, etc. Mine is the new style Norvel with the screwed on carb. After reading through these posts I noticed there are very few answers as to where to find common parts for these. I am in need of a glow plug for it and shims. What is the correct glow plug and who sells them? Also in need of a plug wrench. Thanks !

Good buy on the engine and plane.

The Cox .049 wrenches fit the .074 head. Your best bet for the new glow plug would be to go with Tim's turbo head. http://www.hypercolor.biz/Accessories.html or on ebay, search for hypercolor.

In short order you won't be able to find a new .074 plug. The turbo head uses a car glow plug with the tapered bottom that creates a great seal with no leakage.
Easy to find replacement plugs and possible increase in performance.

good luck,
Greg

Norvel and Cox are both gone. There are no more parts. You have to check swap meets or dealers for NOS parts. I think my LHS my have wrenches. Don't know how much. Like gws1 said a Cox wrench can be made to fit if you have one.

I have 2 brand new glow plugs new in package if your interested? I'm sure you can also get parts from HobbyPeople.com for the AP hornet(Norvel Clone). Among other part you fellow Norvel owners may need.

I no longer use the 1/2 a stuff and would rather see them go to someone who can use them. I have some other misc. heads, gaskets, needle valves, spring starters, and starter springs. Apologies to the administrators since this isn't the marketplace.
