I just use straight hot tap water, and a bottle of Rit to a gallon or so...season to taste.

I boiled some water, dumped it into the sink, added the dye and then the parts.

Here are some red and Navy blue. The top bunch were left in too long and came out almost black.

Dyed up a few props last night, I gotta say, outstanding results!

Thanks, Gents.

Never used rit dye. How do you mix it up? Does it come as a liquid or a powder? How long do the parts need to soak?

See above post #22. Also comes in a powder form (a little cheaper, $2.50 a box) although I haven't tried it yet.

I've only ever used the powder. Just pour it into hot water and soak the parts for 10 to 30 mins depending on how dark you want the colour.

I was at the Asheville SPA meet yesterday and every one was running APC props, although, they were all grey. Now here's some of the greatest looking planes (IMHO) with nice paint schemes and aluminum spinners, and boring grey props on the front. The pattern palne I'm working on now, will have a Rit dye colored prop to accent the color scheme. Probably every other plane in which I use an APC on too!

I know what you mean propbuster. I'm hoping to break a few props so that I can dye some more.
