Any info on the Thunder Tiger Gp-07?
I'm not ready to give up my trusty Cox and McCoy .049s just yet, but it doesn't hurt to cast a wary eye to the future every now and then. I just latched on to a couple of fairly nice GP-07s with no instuctions or data. Any of you have any experience with these engines? Both came with 6x3 props, which seemed a little small to me. What kind of fuel is best? Thanks!

I used my regular 1/2a fuel with mine, the one flight I had lasted about a minute ,then I had to climb a tree to get it back...it started and ran fine...it is about as quiet and powerful as a Norvel .07 ,,not quite, but close..I cant find it at the moment but I think I had a 7 x 4 prop on it?....Rog

I had one in my PT Gyro, the PT called for a Norvel .061~.074, very nice handling engine, a lot like a .40, started easy, idled well, in the right airplane an excellent motor. If I remember correctly I ran a 7x4 and 7x5 on it, not a pylon motor, but a good sport motor.

Lovely little engine. Very quiet and good throttling. I found 7*3 is best for tootling around, maybe 6*4 for a bit more speed.

I notice that they are in stock at Tower Hobbies, but in limited quantities. Will they be discontinued too, like so many other 1/2A engines? I'm not taking a very good liking to the future, if we all get stuck with having to go electric and Lipo (man, that reminds me of a certain brand of dog food...).

Mine liked the 6x3 only. The 6x4 was too much. That was on 30%. Quiet, good idle, easy to adjust. Lacking in power. I would like to put mine in a Herr Cloud Ranger at some time.

A 60" Lancaster and a couple of 32" escort fighters?
That is a good deal though. A few of my mates have gone mad with Sig Rascals and bought GP07s to power them. Now they wish they'd seen that ad before hand.

Thank you everyone for the insightful comments of the TT GP-07. Combining all your opinions, it would seem that the '07 in spite of being somewhat on the the corpulant side, produces enough power for the average sport aircraft and has excellent running qualities. Works for me, all except for that heavy business. Of course, careful wood selection and minding the excess glue should help deal with that deficiency. And who can argue with that purple anodizing? Thanks again.
