RE: How about the Enya RC .06?
I seriously looked at this engine. Enya reliability, decent price, etc. Richmond R/C has been selling these for years. The weight is a little off-putting though. Eventually picked the PAW .06 though because it is quite a bit lighter (3.17 ounces for the Enya vs. 2.64 for the PAW) with roughly the same power output. Still, if others have had good experiences with it, it is sure worth taking another look look at.

You can get the .09 for about $48.38 including the muffler from Kaz Minato. Shipping isn't too bad.

Mr. Minato deducts 20% off of the Enya-Direct prices that are listed here:

Yup, she's a chunky little monkey! Probably has power like the TT 07, only heavier.
I test ran mine, it was no where near broken in as it got pretty hot when leaned out.
I love the fact that it has not changed one bit since the mid 60's.
You could save some weight by cutting off the "backplate" mounts, and going without the muffler.

Half of the argument FOR flying 1/2A is that they develope less kinetic energy in a crash, often surviving crashes with minor field repair or with no damage at all. This Enya already has 2 strikes against it since it weighs as much as 2 normal weight 1/2A engines. Might as well just go with a OS .10.

RE: How about the Enya RC .06?
Enya have been doing the 049 and 06 since the late 50's-the first series were reed valve and fairly light at around 2 oz-the 06 reed valve was available in diesel and glow versions-AFAIK the 049 only as a glow. Subsequently the chunky 06-II appeared as both diesel and glow, and std and R/C-though the R/C carb appears a little unusual in layout. I suspect the 06-III (if the III is not a misprint) is simply the current version. The 049-II is very similar and a pic is attached. The 06 casting seems to be used for the 06-08 and 10 capacities [though why Enya would choose to produce an 08 and a 10 when they have an excellent 09 available in both bushed and BB, std and R/C models is beyond me]

Well they are antiques. I don't believe they're made any more, certainly not listed on enya-engines.com. I think if you ask ModelFlight in Adelaide for an .06 they'll tell you that as well.
I have two of the .06s - one of the reed valve glow engines which makes about the same power as a Babe Bee; the other the early front intake diesel which makes considerably more power.
Great quality engines but, yep, antique and a bit heavy. I love 'em.

I bought 2 of the o49's at a club auction years ago, they seemed to have good compression & I had visions of a cute little twin.
I am ashamed to say they were the only engines I have ever owned that I could never get to start. I own 3 Enya engines at present, I've owned countless more over the years & I'm a fan of Enyas, they run forever. I guess someone had them 'forever' before me [&o] - John.
PS, I did end up making the cute little twin but it's rude to mention the E word here!

RE: How about the Enya RC .06?
Enyas are probably my favorite all-purpose sport engines. I recently picked up a old, scary looking .15 III with the butterfly exhaust baffle. I cleaned it up, ordered a brand new special quiet Enya strap-on muffler and this thing starts and runs as well, if not better, than my new OS FP .15. The Enya has a lot more low end torque and loves a Zinger 8x4. The FP does best at higher rpms with an APC 7x4. They are different engines and it's not fair to compare the two, but they are both great at what they each do best. It's sort of like comparing a Cox Texaco with a Medallion, I guess. BTW, the Enya is in my dad's scaled down Berkeley Buccaneer. It's a perfect match. The FP would simply be out of character on this plane.
