Default Wen-mac

For the Wen-Mac people,

I've was just given several early model wen-mac engines, the ones with the "real" glow plugs, not glow heads. Anyway, how good are theses engines? I see them cheap on E-Bay all the time. Do they run?? And if so, what do they like to "drink"?? (% nitro & castor)

I'm thinking about throwing one on one of my Laumer planes instead of the .020 Cox.

thanks,

chuck

Default RE: Wen-mac

You will probably have to break them in to get them to start and run well. 10% nitro, 20% 50-50 oil is what I have been using. They would do fine with pure castor, and would probably like more nitro. I think they will compare well with a PeeWee 020, but swing a 6 x 3 or 5 1/2 x 3 prop. My wife got several of them at an auction. I sold the bulk at $5 each at swap meets and kept the two oldest. After 30 minutes or so run time they start easily and run steady.
