Default last of the production littlies...

Hey all, it's been a long time between drinks, but like a dog returning to it's vomit....

I've not played with those little cuties for a while but that doesn't mean that I haven't wanted to, but the lure of big scary 26cc gassers got me.

...till now.

As cox parts are getting rarer in these parts, I'm chasing the smallest production engine I can find, with a throttle if I can.

The thoughts of a nice little G-mark 0.30 are barreling through my head, but I know that is a dream, dead and gone...

WHAT?

Good Lord Man, have you not heard of Ebay?!?!??

G-Mark .03's are only $10-20 more expensive than we paid for them here in the USA, and heads are easier for you to get ahold of than us-Taipan still makes them.

Renegade,

I recently sold a G-Mark .03 RC on ebay for $78.00. It was NIB with a little grey prop and tools. I did mention here that I was selling it.

I'm with Skaliwag. The PAW 55 (.033) is one nice little engine and you don't have to worry about glow plugs. Just stinkin' to high heaven. It does have a throttle, and those that use it say it works good. Far as I can tell, a throttle is meant to be tied open...

Well Renegade,
You could check my site www.peterburford.com.au for a really good 'home grown' 0.33cc (0.020 to others).
Save on postage.

Dale, a $500 AUD engine will cost you ~$420 USD. It's one expensive little bugger.

Dale,

It runs around five minutes on a tank-full depending upon the blend. You can of course use a larger tank in the 'plane. It runs well on standard commercial fuel.
It will turn my 6x3 at well over 11,000 RPM. As good as many larger engines.
Check Rob's thread by clicking the link on my Reviews page. He flies his R/C 'plane with the standard tank.

Yes, it is a relatively costly engine, but not expensive. I often point out that far simpler engines of the '50's '60's and '70's and so on, cost propotionately more when they were made in our own countries. Now they are no longer made. It is only my circumstance and choice that allows me to work at a modest rate. The engine may look much the same as others, but it's not. I have a new camera and shall post more pictures, clips and explanation as I work through another batch. It may take a while though, for me to collect enough to warrant approaching the IT guys for the site upgrade. Though it's a "commercial" site ( Not according to my accountant!) I am prone to lecturing. Please feel free to ask anything more.

Peter, you've lost me with the expensive vs. costly thing, but I'd always assumed the engine was more a labor of love than a for-profit venture? You certainly seem to put a lot of work in them and hold yourself to higher standards than "regular" production engines. (not the best way to sell in volume...!) While I'd love to have one, my money tree never bore fruit.[sm=lol.gif] I'm not sure what you could add to the site, but will keep on the lookout.

Well yeah, no matter how pedantic I am about saying it, there certainly are other perfectly good engines for less money.
To the site, I'll add more detail of how I make the engine and what makes it a little special. Not stuff that anyone needs to know to fly a 'plane, nor what anyone needs to know at all, but I want to tell it anyway.
This WWW lets people clutter the 'ether' with trivia. I guess that I add more than my two cents worth.

Back to the thread:

I war perusing The Largest Auction Site In The World tonight and found a clean, maybe new, G-Mark .03RC with a spare plug.. Price is still low. I already have two and about 10 glow plugs. I'd like another. But, if one of you reprobates wants it let me know what your Ebay handle is and I won't bid over you.

Dave,

It's admirable to let someone else win the bid but it hardly ever works out.

In the past I've backed out of an auction because a friend was bidding on it. The friend stopped bidding and I would have paid a lot more but the result was some other bidder came along and got it cheaply.

If you want something, set your maximum bid and go watch TV 'til it's over.

Most of this stuff is like busses, if you miss one there'll be another one along in 15 minutes.

I recently sold two rare Winchester deer skin rifle scabbards on Ebay. The first one went for $237 with many bidders, the second one went for $107. Bidding can be funny.

Well, these don't come up often anymore.... A few years ago would see two a month, now it's like one every 6 months. A fair price would by $70 for the motor itself, but the glowplug will add another $10 or so I reckon.

C'mon guys, don't let me horde all of them!

I had it on my watch list already. Prices on e-bay for desirable merchandise can easily double or triple or better the last 30 seconds of the auction. Never judge what something will l sell for based on what it's at!
I bought an 03 and an 06 G-Mark off of fleabay years ago, so I won't be getting in the way!
Dave
