Default Crazy 8 & 061 Glow???

Just bought a C-8 and was planning on using an 061 AP for power. Anyone try this combo yet? I read the review on the Ezone site and they seem to like the way it flys at 30oz. I weighed all the parts, engine and radio gear and it will be about 22oz less fuel. Will the 061 be enough to have fun or just enough to get by? Any comments appreciated.

Todd.

at that weight you might want a norvel 074 or even a 15; it will fly fine on an 061 norvel(I never dealt w/ the small ap, as it is heavier than norvel, but liked their 15) but over 19 oz., it won't have the vertical or acceleration. at 2.5 oz., the 074 norvel is a good choice. don't start it flooded, though!

Default weight

I did a more accurate weighing of all the parts, this time out of their plastic bags and also I was guessing at the RX battery weight at 3oz cause I don't have it yet but realized I can get a 2oz or less batt. So it looks like the weight should be around the 18 - 19oz range. No matter what it comes out to weigh I think an 074 is in its future.

Default 061 too light

Well it looks as if the 061 is going to be too light to balance the plane. With the battery as far forward as it will go I would still have to add 2 ounces to the nose to balance. So instead of adding dead weight I need an engine that weighs 4.5oz. Does anyone know what the AP 09 or 15 weigh?.

Todd.

I just went to Hobby People and weighed the AP 15 at 5.3oz but, they were out of the 09.

Default Weight of AP .09 and .15

I came across a review of the AP .09 in the August 1999 of MAN where it said the .09 weighs 4.5oz. with muffler. Another poster said that the .15 weighs 5.8oz.

I've seen one with an OS 15 on it... man was it a screamer!!! The fella trimmed alittle too much on the spar to make the fuel tank fit. So in a high speed pass right down the runway she folded up in a spectacular wad. I was way better than electric. If I had one my 074 would be on it in an instant.
