I would probably do it since you have already told on yourself
but once it is trimmed you won't know the difference

Wow! Looks great! I have to say, this is the first build thread that I've read that actually made me hungry. I think I'm going to go make some dinner now...

Just about done...

AUW is 31oz(with the 6.5oz OS .15 LA)... spec is 27oz with a Norvel .074 which weighs 2.65oz that I could find via Google so my build weight is just an ounce over which I could attribute to the extra HS81 servo for the ailerons, bolt-on wing hardware and Ultracote? At any rate, the OS .15 should compensate with some extra oomph with an APC 8x3 prop. Waiting until I get the control rods installed before I look to place the battery pack. Was pondering a white 1.5" spinner but that's about 1.5oz I don't need.

Used Krylon Fusion Navy for the cowl to match the Ultracote Corsair Blue covering. In the daylight it's very close(closer than it looks in the pics above) so I am happy with that.

Learned that my gorilla hands can damage this smaller 1/2A stuff easily... also learned about building light! Also, covering these smaller surfaces with Ultracote was a challenge in and of itself but turned out okay.

Just need to add the cockpit window, aileron linkages(waiting on a Tower order for the extra 1/2A horns) and exhaust deflector and maybe cut something out for the cowl for graphics and I can look forward to a maiden.

You're actually going to fly this thing? I've got room to hang it from my ceiling!

No queens in my hangar! Which means I need to fly her just once, right?

That looks fantastic! I've never seen one of these Herr kits fly, so I'd really like to see a video.

She looks great!

Mine is so squirlley on the ground, I resort to hand launches now.

Also I had to shim the trailing edge of the topwing up 1/8 to get proper incidence as my initial flight wanted to go to the moon.
Good luck on your maiden!

Thanks! I'll be cautious with the maiden... funny how cautious kit/scratch builders can be.

Don't need the weight but will see after the maiden how she handles. Pants do look good on a plane

Looks great SG! This is a combo I've never seen fly before, I'll bet it works great. The 8x3 should be perfect for great all around flying.

All the previous posts were correct and the plane looks great! Please post how it flies and make sure you balance it with all the hardware aboard. Don't worry if it came out over plan, most plans "fudge" the final weight somewhat. And when you do the final balance by adding the radio / battery - remember that a nose heavy plane might fly poorly, but a tail heavy plane normally flies only once. Err on the side of caution.

I'm wondering about the Krylon paint's ability to withstand glow fuel duty. Keep us posted on how it holds up. I'd like to build this kit someday but it seems hard to find paint that matches the Ultracote covering and resists glow fuel.

I was going to clear coat with dope and then someone advised that dope would have caused this Krylon Fusion paint to wrinkle similar to what paint stripper does. Instead, I used regular Minwax Clear Gloss Polyurethane spray(black and silver can) which put a nice gloss on it after testing on the paint on a scrap. This isn't totally fuel proof but can do a decent job from what I've read here on RCU. Just don't want to let fuel or exhaust oil sit on it for days(clean up after flight).

Funny thing - the spray can didn't have a rattle ball. I called True Value and they shook other cans of the same exact product and they didn't have rattle balls either. I have the satin and semi-gloss in the same product line and those have rattle balls, but not this gloss. First time I've seen this. Product sprayed fine.

I am curious to see how this flies. I have an OS 10 LA engine, and I currently don't have anything to mount it on. I have flown several planes, but I don't think I've really tried anything with the Pitt's high wing loading.

Here's a pic of the plans showing the CG. It's roughly 15/16" behind the back edge of the main spar. I had to put my Rx pack as far forward as it could go under the cockpit area to get the CG on.

Hey Chuck,

Yeah - my planes have been collecting dust as I've been busy with family stuff. I do need to carve some time out to dust them off.

Nice video you did there. I like the new take-off line there.
