I'm working on a Taylor Craft, 38" span 245 squares, I printed out the first version of the plans yesterday and went to work on the few little changes that I could see might make it look a little better.

I got all of the wood but my LHS is out of 1/32 x 4 sheets so I have to wait for those. I have the foam cores for the wings, the flight pack and just ordered the throttle sleeves for the engine.

I'm still not sure about the engine, I know that it is going to be a Cox Reed, I am thinking about a Golden Bee...

I still have to get that.

I would say I'm at about 20%

Divide your wing area (in square inches) by 144 to get the area in sq. ft., then divide the total weight (in oz.) by the number of square ft. That gives you oz. per sq. ft.

Still haven't decided if it's the bipe or somethin' else, BTW I bought the engines for somethin' else last night.

I'm going to Chicago Wednesday for five days so when I get back I'll know what I'm going to enter.

I did the fuse formers for the bipe, but may go ahead and make the fuse out of sheet.

When I get building I crank them out pretty quickly, being a Bum I can devote 2~3 days to it without a break.

Well, I don't think I am at 75%, but it definitely looks like an airplane. I took a little time tonite to make the landing gear mounts and to install them. Also bent the gear and test fitted the wheels.

Its sittin' on the Missuss's kitchen table right now under the light lookin at me and sayin' "are ya gonna finish me or what!"

I wrote an online wing loading calculator. You can try it out at this link.

you dont attach multiple pictures with one post- they have to be posted 1 pic per post, that's why you see everyone doing one pic per post and not a load of them in one shot-

Design name:
"Angler" - given the triangular fuselage and angles.

Design Goal:
A fun little Cox .049 TD aerobatic plane w/ good performance (hopefully) that is easy to build.

Basic specs:
Wingspan: 35.5"
Fuselage: 30"

Status:
I have completed the CAD drawings, need to get them printed and have the wing ribs and other components laser cut (1st time in doing this - so crossing my fingers).

Hope to get started on building it this week... (I also have 2 little kids - so it has been interesting). Would love to get some of the new NIMH or Lithium batteries since they are lighter = better flight performance. Still investigating.

wow! jtec, is it 3-channel? it will turn well on rudder. I put a slimline 8 on a lazy bee w/ a 15, yours oughta fly over an hour on that w/ 061!

brian; it looks like a scaled down full size ultralight, or something. definately cool, and should fly awesome.

keep them coming, guys, this is the most interesting thing I have found on the internet!

OK, here's my revised entry. I switched from the GeeBee to an Ultimate. I just couldn't resist the urge to build another biplane.

Span: 24.5"
Length: 26"
Weight: Under a pound (fingers crossed)
Channels: 4
Engine: Norvel BigMig .061
Construction: Foam wings/Balsa Fuse

Plans 100% done, building 0% done.

soarrich, could you PM me your home address, so that I may send a MO to you? I can't stand that paypal stuff, and haven't used it in years...

As to what I'm doing, it's a secret... I've done some drawings, but were done by hand, not on the computer, and I don't have a scanner anymore....

stay tuned...

Wild Fred -

Thanks - I am hoping it will fly good. Can't wait to get started, hopefully this weekend. My goal is to make it as light as possible along with being decent looking. Probably will cover it in opaque missile red & transparent blue monocote (I agree with the moneycote comment I read earlier).

So I finially have a set of plans that I would be happy to show all of you.

Only problem is, I can't figure out how to do it.

BipeFlyer and Av8rsodt, I am using the TurboCAD program that DickeyBird hooked us up with. How are you guys saving those images in a format that will show on the posts?

I have tried importing it into Photoshop, cutting and pasting, even tried to add it on a Word document.

What is the secret?

Thanks...

Prole,

I just printed out my AutoCad drawing on paper and then scanned it as a JPEG.

From there I did the usual sizing of the JPEG to the number of pixels allowed by the RCU system.

Can't wait to see what you got!
