OK, I'll throw in here briefly.

Turned 45 this month, and watched my beautiful daughter graduate from College a couple of weeks ago. She did it on her own, full ride soccer scholarship - I couldn't be more proud.

I'm single and happy about that for now. Been a modeler since age 9, starting with rockets and now building and flying Giant Scale and everything in between.

Other stuff:

I'm a fairly accomplished blackjack card counter - been "encouraged" not to play at 2 Casinos, so I guess I'll have to work on a disguise lol.

My fascination with the game and serious study of it allowed me to add the attached to my toy collection. Love it...

Beyond all that - life is good, tell the people you love that you really do, and keep 'em flying!

Regards,

Bob

I guess I better add to this since I think I'm one of the youngest.

I'm 23 years old. Been Vegetarian for 23 years (never tried meat). I was brought up in small mountain towns in British Columbia by my hippy parents. My first taste of planes was Cox and Control line around the age of 10. My school friend's father built him a small profile stunter with a cox on the front. All I can really remember from that is all the Epoxy repairs, not much flying. That year the same friend got me a rubber powered balsa model which I built fairly quick but never read the part about balancing and it smashed into a million pieces on the street. After that my dad got me a Cox PT trainer, which I never flew because the noise scared the crap out of me. My dad and his buddies had a few goes at it but when I ask him about it now all he remembers is that it would never start.

I've now left the small towns and moved across the country to Montreal, Quebec. For the last 3 years I've worked as a bicycle mechanic/ski tech in a largish outdoors shop. I live by myself in a small apartment that resembles a boys room mixed with a shop. Over the last few years I've gotten myself into WAY too many hobbies. I race Downhill mountain bikes in the summer and organize other small in-town "fun" bicycle events. I own 7 bicycles right now and still dont have enough. In the winter I really get into DIY electronics, mostly audio. I build headphone amplifiers and guitar effects pedals. I also love fine woodworking and have built everything from houses, to chairs, to a guitar. I played trumpet for 3 years throughout highschool and miss it now. I also play guitar and can play a bit more then average beat on the drums.

About two years ago I found this forum and started getting back into airplanes. My favorite part is always building and modifying, but this summer I started to learn how to fly R/C. I've never ran an engine larger then .061 and dont plan on getting larger then 1/2a. For smaller "lekky" stuff I have vowed to keep batteries less than or equal to 800mah, bigger then that gets a 1/2a engine. I like speed more then stunts and hope to get into combat as well with a local friend.

For Christmas I bought myself some 1/2a engines

It seems strange, that 1/2A people have so many other interests in common!! I myself am 45 and used to shoot competively ( indoor postal league .22, 4 classes of pistol silhouette ) , played the guitar, and currently average 10 - 15,000 miles a year riding motorcycles. I used to ride more, but now must divide time among my other interests, with my limited time off from work. The next time I see a Gibson sticker on a motorcycle at the gun range, I may have to wonder!!

Wowzers- I've been away from the forum for a while, but stumbled back in tonight, and after reading this thread I feel the urg to contribute.. It is indeed amazing to see how many things all of us seem to have in common. It is also inspiring to read what all of you more seasoned guys have accomplished!!

36 years young, and I have a wonderful wife and 6-year-old daughter. I still haven't figured out how I got lucky enough to have these two ladies in my life!

I first got interested in building at around 8 or 9 years old, when I stumbled on Model Airplane News magazine at the public library.. My dad showed me some tips on how to build too- I never actually flew until years later. Then I taught myself to fly with realflight, scratch built a 1/2a with a Black Widow .049 on it, and got flying. These days I've only been flying the electrics, but I miss the sounds and smells of nitro.. I've done R/C cars off and on for a while now too.

Other interests:
-Motorcycling- I've had 8 street bikes now, and I've restored the last 4 or 5, which were all Honda CB four cylinder machines.. I'd love to fix up an old BSA or Triumph, but I've gotten wimpy in today's day of inconsiderate drivers and overcrowded roads..
-Absolutely love pinball machines, have a few in my basement (my wife hates the room they take up!!!) I have restored a bunch- both solid state and electo-mechanical. Love the game, love working on them, love the artwork!!!
-Music- played Tuba in middleschool/highschool. Then switched to bass guitar- was in a rock band for a while, much fun! Now play 6-string accoustic and sometimes electric. I've built my own tube amp, and love my vintage Ampeg portaflex SB12!
-Have a couple of .22's, and like to target shoot and plink.
-Worked as an auto-mechanic for a while, then tried to finish college, now work for a big three-letter company in computers, supporting SW development. been doing this full time for 10 years, and have been finishing the BS in Comp Sci at night online.

Happy New Year everyone!!

Jason
