Default .049 size plane - flight pack?

Now that I've ordered a few Cox .049 sure starts, I'm pondering a build.

What kind of servos are required for planes this small? HS-55 sufficient? Maybe the Hitec Micro Pack Micro 05S w/ 3 HS-55 Servos flight pack? What kind of Rx battery pack do folks run? The Berg microstamp looks nice as well.

I have several types of servos from futaba 3107's to Draganfly micros...berg rx are good and radicalrc batteries from 50-270 mAh nicads or nimds....Rog

What kind of servos are required for planes this small?

Mini or micro.

HS-55 sufficient?

Yes.

Maybe the Hitec Micro Pack Micro 05S w/ 3 HS-55 Servos flight pack?

Sure, this is a good choice. It's 9 or 10 grams and full range, just the ticket.

What kind of Rx battery pack do folks run?

General sport use - 225-270mAh NiCd is good. 300mAh NiMH too, if you have a means of charging it properly.

The Berg microstamp looks nice as well.[/i]

It is indeed. But you're fine with the 05S unless you are getting critical for space and the last 5-6 grams count.

270 mAh battery pack for sport flying. Anything smaller and you go home too early.

Shoot, you guys cut the battery juice way closer than me. I like the radical rc 740mah Nimh. No worries on my end!
I also like GWS stuff Rx and servos. Those of you who don't can do things to yourselves that your mom wouldn't approve of.[X(]

The berg works good too.

Wait a minute. Too heavy of a battery and the plane no longer has unlimited vertical. No unlimited vertical and I go home early.

Who makes these smaller Rx packs?

Yeah - you're right. Thanks for pointing this out.

I see a 250mAh pack on their site which is 1.55oz... for less than 1/2oz more Tower has a 750mAh pack at 1.9oz.

I picked up a few of these last week:

[link=http://www.radicalrc.com/shop/?keywords=370+nimh&match_criteria=all&search=Search&shop=1]Radical RC 370mah NiMH[/link]

More juice than the standard 270 mah NiCDs at half the weight. $13 each with connectors. Unlimited vertical - PRICELESS!

I have one of those as well, its a good buy, the 270mAh nicd is $17 at tower....also depends on what plane you want to build, how many channels/servos you have,, a lot of 1/2a are only 2 channel either rudder/elevator or aileron/elevator, no throttle on a sure start, you plan on a floater or a racer?....Rog
I use my Futaba wall wart charger for my nimds and nicds both

I don't mean to but in, but I was thinking with these small planes using 9 gram servoes, a reciever that weighs less than 1/2 oz. I've been using a 700 mah pack that weights 1.9 oz.. I have several 220 mah flight packs that I could convert to reciever packs. My question is how much flight time can I expect out of the 700 mah or the 220 mah before recharging. I'm only using two servos.

EG,

Thanks a bunch for the post on the 370pack and the R-RC webside. I've been building allot of 1/2a as well as 1/4a stuff lately and have been looking for some lite battery packs.
