Hard to tell from the photo, if it is a BigMig tank it will run just long enough to be a pain in the *****

Gabe, I got one of those tanks years ago but never used it. Size wise it looks like enough fuel to run a TD to get the engine adjusted, plane launched, trimmed out, then ready to land. I think those tanks were designed to make retrofitting a TD to a reedy equipped plane convenient. Imagine one of those C/L planes with a TD on 20 foot lines!

Anyway, the scary thing about those tanks is that you can't look inside them to see what kind of horrible ooze is lurking in there. For most applications I like the Hayes tanks and Sullivan small tubing...very trouble free.

The Sullivan type tanks are harder to set up and you need a clunk that is half the size of the engine to get that feature to work. A long piece of brass tubing inside the tank that is hinged to the nipple in the stopper works good as a pickup line that can't fold over after a hard landing. A wheel collar at the end of the pickup line is still needed to keep this contraption submerged. Otherwise, a fixed pickup line routed to the bottom of the tank is the most reliable and good for everything except long spells inverted and consecutive outside loops. How many guys here like to do consecutive outside loops?

Gabe, the Hayes tanks aren't completely RTF, but only take a minute to assemble

By the way, a TD will fit into a Norvell tank mount, but a NORVEL engine might not fit in a Cox tank mount. The Norvel engines had just a bit wider crankcase, although the mounting holes are the same. A slight bevel with a file is a quick fix.

Not sure of the run time but I will have to agree there are better tanks simply because you can't see into them.

These tanks are pretty highly valued by collecters. The ones new in bag bring the best prices and are snapped up quickly by many.

Gabe:
I used to used one like that on a Sig power pod for 2 meter sailplanes with TDs. It would run maybe 1.5 to 2.5 minutes, get you up 400 feet or so. What I would do is run a tank for tunning and warm up then refill, crank it up and launch in a hurry. They where great for this purpose. Im sure its in a box somewhere in the basement, I never throw anything away, just ask my wife!!!!!!!!!

Happy Flying
Bob
