Default DARE Jenny build thread

Got a fuse side laid out (hope I don't build 2 rights).

I added a close-up shot here. The longerons are laminated from two 1/16x1/8 sticks AFT of the doubler, with the outer lamination going along the inside of the doubler. I figured it'd be stronger to fillet the outer lamination into the doubler rather than using a butt joint as per plans.

I've never been inclined to build one of the early bipes, but I've always admired them. Keep the pics coming.

This would be a good project for a PAW .061? There is a local guy who builds planes of this era and displays them with TT .07s. What will power this plane?
I've never seen the framework done this way, where the front sheeting blends with the longerons...it's clever. The close up photo shows the Tpins crystal clear, but the balsa looks like old drift wood....what's up with that?

The stickwood that comes with the kit is rough-cut, doesn't have a nice pre-sanded finish. The Flyline Kiner Sportster uses the same method on the fuselage (it's the subject of another build thread I started here, but it's going to take longer to actually put glue to wood). I'm figuring to power the Jenny with either an MP Jet .061 or a CS .061. I think the TT .07 might be too much lead (and i don't have one). It'd probably be an excellent subject for a PAW .03, it's designed for electric or OK cub .049.

The instructions blather on about rubbing the plans with cooking oil and flipping them over to build the opposite fuselage side...I decided to go with the old tried-and-true method of building one on top of the other, separated with a layer of wax paper.

Rub cooking oil on them?... it's a "food source" for cock roaches and other vermin!!! Who thought of that? Probably some kit "seller" who wants to sell another kit!!! [After the roaches eat your plans!] Thanks for putting lots of photos up. I really like this build.

Looks nice, a TT with a large prop might give a nice scale like flight to it...

Who sells the kit?
