Cool new graphics!
Sometimes it pays to be in the right place.
Two weeks ago. The Blue Angels performed here in Corpus.
I got a hook up from a buddy of mine who runs the weather station on the base. He was able to get all eight pilots sign my plane.
DO I get extra points for the contest?
Anyway, I thought it was cool enough to show it off here.

Randy,
That is absolutely fantastic!
You have a real treasure. I wouldn't even THINK about flying it. It deserves to be put in a glass case!

Unfortunately,
I was not there when they signed it, so I wasn’t able to get their reaction. When I did meet them though, they are extremely by the book. Stiff almost, but COOL as can be! Hell, they drip cool. They have a protocol for everything. Even the way the signatures are laid out on the plane is set-down in a rule somewhere. Apparently they are asked to sign models more often then I would have thought.
As for flying it, I think you are right. I have plans to fly at two small events this summer, and then I will have to hang it up.
Sad almost, the signatures will become more
important than the plane itself in the coming years.

Big Als right man you cant fly that thing anymore now
course,, you could really mess with their heads and have your pic taken with the autographed plane and autograph the pic and then send it to all eight of them...that'll confuse them till they come back around and ask your friend
that could be a high ticket item at a flyover huh!!!
its cool man but ,,NO NO FREAKIN EXTRA POINTS YOU DIG!
unless I get extra points for crappiest plane? its ok with me then if its ok with you...Rog

man i would deffinaelty do something to protect thoes signatures~ and I personaly would not fly it again, it was built for the contest, it ran for the contest and it flew for the contest. Leave it alone! could you imagine if it crashed (not saying it will) but man that would realy, realy suck.
I would think about trying to make thoes signatures permanent somehow too- mabey topflite clearcote spray or something?
dont know, if it were awarded on cool points you deffinaetly have them with that-

Nothing would make those signatures more permanent than having the model inside a glass case. WHY THE HELL ISN'T IT INSIDE A GLASS CASE. MORON ALERT!!!
Kay, that's a little extreme. No little contests for that little plane anymore. Hell, you could make a killin on Ebay alone, though it would have to be my children selling it after my death, CUZZ IT'D BE IN A GLASS CASE IF IT WAS MINE!!!!

Mr. Clean,
Welcome to our hang-out
You crack me up!!!! I mean for real. Totally funny!
ironic from guy who builds and flys planes designed to be combated!
Thank you for your kind remarks.
Actually there is an offer on the table for me to donate the plane to the Navy flight training command here on the base in Corpus Christi. You will be happy to know that an actual Glass case has even been discussed. Not sure yet if thats the way it will happen, but we will have to see. I like the idea of my work living beyond my time here.
I never really thought about the idea of value. I just thought it was cool. Cant be worth too much. anyone with initiative should be able to get the same signatures. And, I'm starting to come around to Dickybirds point of view.
Anyway, thanks for all the replys guys.

I agree with Dickeybird. While the signatures are something special, they aren't as impressive as the wonderful little plane you built.
I haven't built an 020 powered model in a couple of years, but you've inspired me to build something, maybe even something with an .010.

We saw pictures of it flying, put it in a glass case as part of history, and build another one to fly.

Digger...
I am disappointed that I cannot make the SMALL event this year. It has been great to meet and watch everyone's contest entries on RCU.
I just wanted to write a quick note saying how great your plane looks (and flies)- particularly for this being your 1st design.
I would love to be as lucky as you to have it signed by the Blue Angels.
I can't to see what you come up with for the next contest...
I also appreciated your comments on the design contest philosophy...

I was able to get one of my planes in an air museum years ago. It was a giant scale bird with a big Quadra on it. It really made me proud to see something I had done being a small part of something that large. It hung there for 3 years. I would think about it for a while. You can always build another, but if you were to loose that one for what-ever reason, it would kill you.
Take lots of pictures of it, and you with it, and all that stuff, then hand it over to the glass box time machine.
Never mind, fuel it and fling it!!! And bring it to Little Rock with you. Heck I might even sign it for ya too!!

Thanks for the input guys, the plane is certainly going to littlerock, where it will be flown. I want to do some formation flying with the Matchlessaero's "Little Blue Angel" Then it will be put up. Not sure where yet. Maybe just in my own airplane room, but it will be retired.
Hope to see all of you guys in littlerock.

It would be
my pleasure to get to fly a little formation flying with you and that good lookin little plane at SMALL!
Here is a funny twist of fate- The Blue Angels will be performing here at home while I am there at SMALL...... And yes, I had planned on getting the LBA in the door hopefully to see the team in person (got to once when I was in highschool. figured I might be able to do it again)
When you get home from SMALL, you better put that thing in a case!
