Spektrum AR6100E
Howdy all,
Any of you guys have experience with the Spektrum AR6100E receiver? I wonder what the range is? I know its specified as park flyer but that doesn't tell me its usable range. Any input is appreciated.

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
IIRC, the official range is over 1/2 mile - plenty for 1/2a flying, and for most RC flying for that matter.
I've had mine for 2 years now and absolutely love it - Rock solid, all the glitches I used to get with 72 mhz are gone.

Thanks, I had heard some stories about problems with this little receiver. Here on RCU someone posted that the range was approx 400 feet.

Digital Trucker,
I would like to get a couple of the ones you have. Will Futaba J connection servos work with that receiver?

Digital Trucker,
Thanks so much. I will get me a pair to go in my 2 Schweizer Gliders. Looks like the old 72 MHZ will be going on that auction website.

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
The "e" model is advertised as being full range compared to the plain 6100. I've used my DX6 with 6100 in a 3D foamie flyer for the past year and it's never given me so much as a hiccup and that includes vertical climbs to almost out of sight overhead drives. Of course that doesn't mean that the odd one isn't flaky. It IS electronics after all.
The big deal is that they don't want us using the "parkflyer" 6100 for a big 3 meter glider and flying it out to extreme visual range. But like you guys I've heard that stuff around the 3 foot mark can be flown out to almost out of sight and still have control.

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
Well I went ahead and done it. I have bought an AR6100 Receiver and a DX-7 transmitter. I have made the leap to new technology. I did a little research on the receivers by talking to my local hobby shop. The salesman is also a local club member and has converted his entire fleet to Spektrum. He actually talked me out of the AR6100E and into the AR6100. He sez that the little AR6100E doesn't have the range of AR6100. Based on that I opted for the AR6100. Can't wait till they arrive in the mail. BTW the AR6100 is lighter than my GWS Pico 4ch receiver by about 1 gram!

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
i cant see why there would be a difference in range with the 6100 or the 6100e or even than 6000 for that matter. i've used all 3 as far as i could see the planes and never a miss. the 6100e is just a 6100 with the pins on the end no other difference.

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
Does any body have use this receiver on a nitro 1/2A airplane?
I've been thinking to use it on a Comet ME163B (scratch build) with a Norvel 061 CL.
Thanks
Enrique

RE: Spektrum AR6100E
I'm a little late to the party with my input here, but I put a 6100E in my trusty old ladybug and finally got around to testing it today. I climbed up until I could no longer determine which way it was headed except by its relative movement(speck height, in other words) and tested response by performing a few maneuvers. Nothing to suggest even a hint of a control loss, and eyeballing it, I'd put the plane at about 700' away from me at the time.
