What is this,it's a Mach None
Okey now I'm here, may dad just passed and I'm going through his planes.
This is a 1/2 pattern plane and might be related to my big Mach1.
It has a TeeDee .051 and are flown only once, we did not use Nitro here in Sweden in the old days so the engine was to weak to performe.
And it has some hangar rach after 35 years.

RE: What is this?
First, that's sad news about your father. If you flew together, at least you have some great memories.
Second, I believe that the little pattern plane is a mach none.

Sorry about Pop too.
If you send it over the pond I will be honored to champion her in the unlimited version of the Reedie Race. I would send it back to you of course to be hung in the place of honor you and your father would be proud of.
Or you could have just as much fun as I would with the warm feeling of knowing it has a higher power generating lift under those capable wings.
Seriously, I would step on my unlimited racer (I took 2nd last year) and punch out all of the other competitors if you really did ship it over here.

RE: What is this?
Martenson,
Sorry to here about your dad. I think it is great that you have those planes to enjoy and remember him by when you fly.
I just got a TD like that out of moth balls. Completely take apart the venturi and needle valve assembly. Soak in solvent and be SURE the tiny holes are clear and clean, a tiny peice of copper wire is a big help. Reassemble. The rings that PT Ulmer has will help repair or prevent cracks in the plastic venturi housing. You could send him a PM . I wish you many happy hours with those planes! Can you get 25 % nitro fuel now? The car stuff is fine but it MUST have added castor oil.

RE: What is this?
Sorry for your loss of your father. Perhaps flying these planes will give you much joy, even more knowing they were built and flown with care many years ago.
These 1/2a's are getting harder to find, but can still be built from plans. The other kits you have are good ones, pretty good trainer/sport flyers.
Again, sorry for your loss, your visits and pictures are welcome here.

RE: What is this?
Thanks guy's I can feel his spirit is with me when I fly.
Mabee more when I can get one of his oldies in the air.
We will have his Crusader pattern ship on the coffin during the funeral at church.
Now back to business.
What size of propp should I have on my TeeDee, what fuel % nitro and should I use casor oil?
Where can I buy a good propp.
It has old cannon servos now and I will put in new mini servos.
Did the exhaust throttle work on these engines?
Thanks

RE: What is this?
Martenson, the Master Airscrew 6x3 is a nice fit, the APC 5.7x3 runs very good, but you will need a short piece of small fuel tubing to adapt that prop to the Cox prop bolt. A Cox 5x3 might pull that plane pretty good through some parabolic manuevers. It is very important to have castor oil in the fuel, and like it was stated before, clean that engine just like it was a little gun before you use it.

RE: What is this?
Nice to see another fellow from our small country, and sorry for your loss.
When I walked in to a local hobby shop here and started rambling about cox engines and cox fuel, to a spotty teenager behind the counter, I felt a bit old...
He did manage to find a dusty bottle labeled as running in fuel that had a bit of extra castor in it (castor is important both for piston liner and the conrod ball joint). You can also get castor at the farmarcy and add some extra, it has very high quality but it is a bit expensive (these engines don't need much fuel though). MA props are also fairly common at least in 6x3 or 6x4 and they can easily be cut down to around 5.5" (they do need a lot of deburring and balancing).

RE: What is this?
So for fuel the Fox Missle Mist would be good, I can blend and mix my own fuel, I have both castor, synthetic, nitro and a big 54 gallon drum with methanol.
How much difference would it be between 15% and 25 % nitro?
I have an old Topflite 5 1/4 that I will try.
Thanks.

Oohhh..... my god, I have never run a TeeDee.
My Golden Bee with 20% nitro was not near the TeeDee on 5% nitro.
My ears are still ringing, I don't use earplugs on our 528cui methanol engines eather.
But this engine takes the cake

Missile Mist! That was my fuel of choice 45 years ago when I was flying Cox powered CL every chance I got! The little Coxes ran so great on that fuel I wondered how Cox sold any of their own. Cox missed the boat by selling only 15% and 35% fuel -- at exorbitant prices. Missile Mist was perfect at 25%. Jim

Yes it had the purple can. It was my favorite too as I was on a budget abd the Cox blends were just far above that budget.

Martenson your reaction to the sound of a TD is
normal, the first run of the season is almost as
shocking. Now you need a TD .09 to make the
.049 tame by comparison. Gotta love it[>:]

I hear you, or maybe not
So the high pitch tone I hear all the time might be a TeeDee on WOT
I like the sounds of any good running engine, and it's not good to listning to that without ear protection.
My favorit is my 440 race V8 mopar engine at 8200rpm[8D]
Take care
