The Cox website is listing Sure Starts again. I just ordered a couple. We'll see what shows up.

This is kind of like waiting on a patient with a bed pan, not sure of which end or when to expect the latest batch.

www.coxmodels.com The address is in Penrose CO. The website looks a little different. They were showing out of stock when I checked last week. I'm thinking that they assembled up another batch. The also show the arfs and electric models.

Matt, I agree, it sure looks like they have assembled another batch. Wonder what version they are?

PS I have never seen an actual example of the cast crankcase version but would like to have one out of curiosity. I would swap a machined crankcase engine for one. Would pay the postage both ways if anyone has one that they would like to get rid of. Would send it either in the original package or since I have a re-set tool would snug up the rod ball joint first. I'm not a collector, but sometimes my curiosity just gets the best of me.

I just went to their Main page --> Classic Cox, which listed the SS.
I hit the SS and it brings up the SS page that says Out of Stock.... but if I just hit the Buy Now from the ClassicCox page it is happy to throw one in my basket

I would grab 5 or 6, but I hate ordering stuff to get disapointed with Backorder hassles.

The word is that they have been out of stock for so long because they had to order hardware for the engines(washers, screws). My personal opinion is that they will be avalible within the next two weeks, but do not take this as fact.

I've got half a dozen cox's on hand but I figured that even if I have to wait a while on a back order it will be worth minimal price. As far as the cast crankcase goes I'm buying engines to use and I haven't heard much good about the cast case SS motors. If you want one to round out a collection I scrolled past several on the enormous auction website earlier this evening.

I just followed KidEpoxy's thinking but went ahead and ordered 4 of them. The invoice says that the name of the store that I ordered them from was "Store Name". It did not say they were in stock or not but said that items in stock would be shipped in one or two days and out of stock items might not ship for up to 4 weeks.

It also said:
"If you have any questions about your shipment, you may contact our customer service department at (xxx) xxx-xxxx, between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm EST.
Thank you again for your order.

Sincerely,
STORE NAME
Customer Service Department"

That all makes me wonder who I ordered from! By the way, can anyone tell me where area code xxx is?

LOL!!!

I have called the COX sales line probably 15 times over the last week and always get the "Either I'm on the phone or away from my desk" message. They must be terribly busy, on vacation or shut down. There is an option to contact the operator which I may try tomorrow. If I can ever get thru, I'll try to find out if more SS are on the way or gone forever.

It sounds like they need a little bit of stimulus to have another bowel movement?

In me experience you are better off emailing them.

Finally spoke to a human voice at COX Sales -- was told that they expect a shipment of SS to arrive mid-March.

I got an email today from Cox customer service. I guess it is an invoice. It lists my shipping address, the cost and gives an order number. But nothing that indicates actual shipping. Hopefully a box of Sure Starts will show up pretty soon.

The nice man in the big brown van came through today. Buying engines by the box full, Who'da thunk it? It took about two weeks from order placed till delivery.

Rich,
If I may ask.
Did she mean when these 25,000 were gone that would be the last of the Sure Starts?
Thanks!

I did not ask for any details. But she did say they were phasing out the glow stuff & the SS should last several years.
