CAROLINA 1/2A CREW REEDIE RACE RESULTS
OK Guys, an update on the Carolina 1/2A Reedie Race and Fun Fly. It was decided that the prevailing winds were a bit too strong (gust up to 35 mph per the weather channel) for having the race. Not to mention that only 6 pilots showed up. So it has been postponed until the fall event. Rog will inform everyone the date so if you can clear that date on the calendar do so not to miss out on these wonderful trophies!!
Now to the fun flying that went on today even in the wind!! We did get some breezy laps in of practice and it appears Seth is going to be the guy to beat in open. His QuikShot with a Tee Dee .051 really burns up the sky and neither of my QuikShots could catch him. John Gibson was faster than me with his but still Seth was out running us both. I will have something to chase him with next race!!!
Rog went swimming with one of his models as many of us had to retrieve models from the swamp lands due to the wind. All in all a good day of fun and flying. Good to see everyone who made it out. For those who missed it you better get ready for Seth because I’ve haven’t seen anyone that fast in a while!!!
Here are some pictures I took while I had the chance. I was quite busy filling up last place!!!!!!! BTW check out the cool buttons Rog gave out!! Also guys, heres Deadstiks .049 Golden Bee powered Littliest Stick!![X(]

One more item. Rainedave has found a great place for fuel line and KK needle valves for Tee Dee .049 and .051. Dave can you post info on your supplier. I forgot to write it down.
Also there were some more guys taking pictures today. Please post them so we can see!!!
Thanks,
Bob Harris

The wind was tough! I flew one of my SS's once and it took everything I had to keep the plane over the field (and out of the swamp). I still had a lot of fun.
Bob's Quick Shots will be hard to beat this fall.
Hank Nystrom is selling the 128 thread NV's and really nice tubing that doesn't kink or melt from nitro (like surgical tubing does). The site uses frames [sm=tongue_smile.gif] so scroll down on the left and look under Accessories:

It was great to see everyone and meet some new faces: John, Seth, and his wife.
Always a hoot when you get several racers in the air at the same time.
Roger - Thanks for letting my Nathan and Andrew fly your little electric bipe... that is all they talked about on the way home
Here are a few pics to enjoy...

Here is a classic shot...
Bob in his picture perfect launch... incredible physique.
Notice Deadstik's (Dan's) vertical landing technique off to the right.
The 2nd pic is Seth's cool solar setup. He will have to provide the details...

Yep, Brian, Nathan and Andrew asked several questions about the models. I can remember being that age and going to the flying field with my Dad. Looks like they got the RC bug! Better start getting getting a model or two ready for them. A few more addition to the 1/2A crew!!!!!!

It was windy, but it made for some really, really fast down wind laps. And if my plane was truly the fastest, it's only because I bought it ready to run from Bob at the Burlington swap meet. Thanks to everyone who made Jackie & I feel welcome at the fly-in. She enjoyed giving out scores on the abrupt landings (a.k.a. vertical landings). Rog you should have won something for your water landing. I've never seen a plane do a full-gainer.
Brian asked about my solar setup . . . it is just a solar panel from a Volkswagen Jetta. My brother bought one a few years ago and gave me the solar panel. It has kept my flight box charges the last two flying seasons. It puts out 170 mah at 18 volts.
Also, thanks to rainedave for letting me try out a few different props on the TD 051 and John & Bob for help and pointers. I'll make room on my calendar for the fall race. I will not want to miss it - Seth
PS - I can't wait to race Dan's Littliest Stick when the wind is calmer.

I guess Bob and I were thinking/writing at the same time...Seth, that 5 foot splash only stripped my rudder servo,,took a few minutes to get the water out of the engine and get it running again, and I ran it again at home last night just to be safe, got my 2 channel shrike ready to go today with a golden bee on it will test it this week, its down to 13 oz rtf...Rog

35mph winds? C'mon guys Every photo I saw the windsock is at less than 45degrees and no one even has a hair out of place - and the trees are not even moving.
Seth, next time don't bring your plane out until they say "The Race Is On" and "Start Your Engines" - Think you scared them away[:'(]

My two boys had a great time... Nathan (7yrs - one in blue shirt) and Andrew (4yrs - in yellow shirt / blonde hair). They are still talking about Saturday.
A great experience for the two of them to wander around, talk to others, and get some flying in too. All of you were great with them (and answering their 1,000 questions).
Days like this are what it is all about in my mind.... relaxing with the boys while they have a great time and having fun myself visiting with friends and talking airplanes.
Looking forward to September...

This recipe says to remove the fat and glands, but that ain't the authentic way that rog serves it up.

Way to go Vic,
I found this when I googled "poke salad" . . . . .
"The roots, berries, seeds and mature stems and leaves of pokeweed are poisonous," says Extension Food Scientist Jean Weese. There are at least three different types of poison in this plant phytolaccatoxin, triterpene saponins, an alkaloid, phytolaccin, and histamines."
Some people will do anything to win.
