Good covering job!

Is this this the kit that is packaged in the plastic bag?

I got this kit from Tower for $39.95 since I had a NIB OS Max 10 engine that needed a home. The kit was very well designed and the parts were as accurate as I have ever seen. It could probably have been assembled without glue! The instructions say that weight with radio is 30 oz. Mine came in at 27.75 with full size 700 mah battery pack and HiTech HS-81 servos and a HiTech reciever. I ran a few tanks through it on the ground (Fox Superfuel 29% castor) to start breaking it in. Today it was time to fly! It rolled out about 50' and then it was off. It flew very stick-like with no bad habits. No powerhouse for sure, but it flew good. I hope to pick up some more power as the engine breaks in but it is the older single-bypass, lapped piston type. All in all, a cute, easy flying plane that is really easy to build. For $39.99 you really can't go wrong......

It's shrink wrapped to a piece of cardboard. Not much to it but definately well-engineered!

Beautiful job. Hey, I love the old cross-flow Maxes. Very cool.

Nice job on the Stick. The OS 10RC is nice also, did you shine it up, or is it new? I loved this kit, it's so easy to build, and flies great.

I have an os .15 on mine, its not worth taking a pic of since its the plane I used to get rid of my leftover monocote..the wing is yellow the ailerons black..the plane is all white, the tail group is blue/purple/and transparent green...the red strip on yours is a good idea , but be careful, that color combo is gonna be hard to watch on a pretty day, I'd get a marking on the bottom of the wing somehow.....nice looking though....isnt it odd that the ailerons have no taper at all, just 1/4 inch stick.......Rog

I'm also wondering where you guys put the CG? The plans say 1-3/4" but with the little flying I did I noticed it took a little more down elevator when inverted than normal. I have 1.5 oz. right behind the firewall to achieve the 1-3/4" balance point.

Nice job! I had one of those a while back - did the yellow, black, and white checkers thing. I had some fueling issue gremlins that eventually go the better of mine. It would flameout at really inoppurtune times......like just after takeoff and out over the swamp at treetop height[:@]...

I hadnt seen that they cut interlocking tabs for the rib to TE sheeting... that was nice of them. That has got to make building go fast, getting & keeping stuff aligned

Wow, I like that one! That's a kit I've thinking about for a long time.[sm=shades_smile.gif]

Everthing went together so easily and precisely. The wing went together in less than an hour. The fuse even less. Definately a worthwhile kit if you have a .10 looking for a home. After flying it it seems like you could shorten the wing by one rib on each side and still have enough wing.

Scott, You mentioned that the .10 wasn't a powerhouse (granted it was an older .10). How do you think this plane would hole up to something a little bigger? I have an old OS FS-20 four stroke looking for a home and with roughly the power of a .15 I'd think it would fit the plane pretty well, albeit a bit on the heavy side. Oh, and what are the dimensions of the firewall, it looks about 3" square? I've been thinking about this project for a while now. Any comments?

I ended up putting everthing as far forward as possible and ended up putting 1.3 oz. of lead behind the firewall. There is definately enough wing area and I bet a 20FS would work just fine. For $39.95 it sure would be easy enough to find out!!!

P.S. If you want another option, The ModelTech Mini Magic Extra would be a sweet home for that 20. I have a newer .30 FS in one and it has unlimited vertical with a 10-4 APC. The 20 is the same size and weight as the 26 and 30 and close to the same power. Very fun plane.

I would love to take on another project. However I have a bunch on my bench already3 planes in various states of completion. I'll have to pick up a kit and save it. For reference, were the ailerons very effective? I only ask because they look fairly thin chordwise. I'm not looking for an aerobat, but are the ailerons still "fun"?
