Default Sure Shark Short Kit - Flying Models

David,

My Flying Models magazine showed up and.... low and behold there is mention of David's .049 Sure Shark that will be offered as a short kit.

FM is supplementing its plan services by beginning to offer short kits.

I believe they will be asking $40 for the kit + plans.

Cool that David's SS was the first...

I'm glad we got ours from Dave.
It has been a treat to assemble.
Mine is 2 versions in 1. Glo convertable to electric just in case.

My Flying Models magazine hasn't arrived yet, but having seen the 'real thing' fly several times, and appreciating Dave's craftmanship - I know this just might light the real balsa/small plane fires out there. Way to go Dave and FM.

Yep, Frank Fanelli told me they were offering kits. I was a bit surprised about that. I will still continue offering my short kits as long as there's an interest.

I've got two on the way, but for some reason I was thinking that this design was already published by FM??? I looked thru my back issues last night for the plans, no luck, so I must be dreaming or something.

DeviousDave-

Yes, it was already published... Aug 07 if I remember correctly. FM is starting to offer short kits of the Sure Shark which is the "new" part.

I wonder how many plans FM has sold? Curious...

Good Show Dave!

PS Enjoyed the visit with you and Brian last year in Kernersville. Itching to get back to your part of the country at one of your fly-ins and meet the rest of the Carolina bunch.

PPS I don’t know where you guys fly? The part of the country that I drove thru, scenic yes, but wasn’t flat enough to pitch a tent without tying it to a tree.

[hijack]

Take a look at www.hennessyhammock.com

I use one of these (ULTRALITE BACKPACKER A-SYM) and get the best sleep I ever have outdoors. They are bug proof, keep you dry, and off the ground. My hammock is about 2-1/2 years old now and I've slept 25-30 nights in it now between backpack/survival camping and visiting my rural property with no appreciable wear and tear. The retail prices are high, but you can get one for about $100 on that famous auction site. Seriously, one of these with a Big Agnes inflatable pad and a decent fart sack and it will feel like you are crashed out on your easy chair.

Easily the best money I've spent on my Bug-Out-Bag.

DeviousDave - I have attached a picture of the front cover of the Aug 07 FM along with a quick article picture.

Big Al - I was thinking about your last vist with Dave and I about a week ago. YES, let us know when you may head up this way so we can arrange going to the Burlington field.
Very easy direction-wise (Exit 148 in Burlington off I-40 and head south a few miles).

Still have plans to make the .010 Mustang - too cool to pass up.

Vicman,
You not only fly on top of a mountain, but you do it first class to boot! I’ve not seen a nicer field. Judging from that paved strip, I would guess there might be some turbine jet flyers (i.e., $$$$$) in the club.

It's not pavement. It's fabric. We do have a few turbine guys in the area but they don't like it when I chase them around with my quick prop jobs. This club doesn't allow turbines since they would melt the runway.

Your right that it is super dang smoooooth to fly off of. It also is pretty sweet to do a belly landing on.
