Default Mountain Models Miniflash conversion

My miniflash had an argument with a light pole. I nailed it straight on. The only thing that was really damaged was the nose. It was REALLY damaged. Anyway, I was thinking new fusalage or rebuilding the nose from scratch. I finally thought of a third option. Sand whats left of the nose flat. Install a plywood firewall. Attach a Novel .061, with the Novel tank/mount. It weighs in at 12 oz. I flew it today, but it was blowing about 15mph. It doesn't have the power of the EPS300 that I had on it, but my Norvel isn't broken in yet. I think its definately worth tinkering with. My only concern is, do you think the frame will stand up to the vibrations? I havn't had much experience with electric conversions, what other "got ya's" should I look for?

I've done a few electric to glow conversions and the only real problem that I have encountered is the oil from the exhaust. I have had no structural problems and the planes are usually happier with the less weight.

One thing you may want to check is your hinging, it looks like you used tape. Tape is OK for sailplanes and electrics, but the fuel residue will dissolve the glue. You can replace the tape with covering.

That sounds good. I didn't really want to remove to covering to try to beef up the frame anyway. I kinda figured all it would do is add weight anyway.

Thanks, I didn't know about the tape glue disolving, That could have been a mess.

Its hard to tell on a windy day. Even large planes fly terrible on windy days.

The tank mount weighed about 1/2 oz.

Thats good to hear about the foam. I was thinking of trying it on my E-Starter next. I think I am going to put a 2 oz tank buried in the foam. That should give some good flight time. I only get 3 minutes with the tank mount.
