With a hot engine, a build thread would also belong in the extreme speed forum..

1932 Helicron

In the late 1930's this one-of-a-kind Helicron was placed in a barn and forgotten. More than six decades later this odd lost little gem was rediscovered, rebuilt, and reintroduced to theworld. Although the manufacturer is unknown, it's believed that this car was built in France 1932. Following the first World War it was not uncommon for recently displaced air plane engineers to look towards the automobile industry for employment.

As in this example, a few entrepreneurs developed propeller-powered cars with the notion that propeller power was an efficient means of moving avehicle. On this car, when the wooden propeller is spinning at full speed and efficiently,
this little 1,000-pound boat-tailed skiff can hit freeway speeds exceeding 75 mph. This is the one and only Helicron in
existence, owned by Lane Motor Museum in Nashville , TN.

I guess the scale tether-car enthusiast(s) of North America would be all over this one.

Imagine driving that thing in the good ol' days on dirt and gravel roads. The air filters and windshield would need changing every couple of hours.

Here is a video of this car on the road.

According to this article there are two other propeller driven cars at this same museum:

The Fascination sedan built in Nebraska in the 70's was, in its concept stages, to be driven by propellers using an aircooled engine.

Can you imagine the cacaphony when you and your eight neighbours are ooutside warming up the engines to head for work at 1/4 to 8 in the morning? It would sound like a 1000 piece orchestra of leaf blowers gone mad.

That guy Moller was gonna "change the world" with his flying car, but he revised and redesigned it so many times he basically went bankrupt so no one else would invest...another guy was doing a jet pack type of flyer but with 2 small 2 strokes instead of jet power, just couldnt get the thrust out of it, pretty much only a 5 year old weighed enough to fly it....guess he's still working on it, I dont know...Rog
