Looks good being AAC but is that a standard plug they're using? If so, a turbo could give up to 1.5K improvement.

Unless a fella is set up to do some machining, that particular engine is not easy to convert to another plug type.

The read head ones with a carb are the MkI ones.

The MkII uses regular plugs too, and has a head that is held down by 3 screws. I'm pretty sure one can use a lathe to fit a plug/head from an ASP engine, using the stock head with 3 screws to seal the plug against the liner. Haven't done it yet but its on my to do list, I even have an extra head in case I mess it up...

There is plenty of data on the CL forums, it would need a proper plug to make desent power.
Mine did about 14500rpm on 12% nitro and a MAS 5.5x4 and exhaust throttel from litemachines (idle at 6000rpm). With a proper head and smaller prop it should do fine for sport use I think.

I've put a very brief video [link=http://rcuvideos.com/video/Brodak-MkII-wmv]here[/link] of the engine running on a bench...

Yes, that's true. I guess I was politely trying to say, finally, a modern engine, AAC and all but then, a stock plug?? Lots of effort into making a TRUE chromed, 1/2A engine and then it's denied its full potential. I don't know how much the cost in manufacturing is, but for 70 dollars,,,,

More disappointing to the RCers, no muffler and the venturi placement and angle makes it not so easy to add a throttle.

But as mentioned, it shouldn't be too hard to install a Norvel/Wasp plug. I think that Mecoa is making these now.

Then too, there are lots of burned out Norvel plugs around that with a little practice could be drilled and tapped to take a turbo. I posted a how-to a while back.
