Any way to get Hitec servo's to rotate opposite direction?
Back to the Bonanza AGAIN !!!!
mains work great, nose works ok, but the gear is not working together.
aka: mains down, nose is up- the easiest fix is to mabey reverse the servo so it rotates clockwise instead of counter clockwise (or vise versa) but i dont know if that is feeasable. is there any ideas, suggestions, comments, refferals, ??????
need help-
flipin the servo to the other side is'nt much of an option- it is an HS-101 Apollo servo it is a pretty high torque servo for being what it is (minimal for the front retract).

Sure...you have to go inside the servo and reverse the + and - wires on both the motor and the potentiometer....or, buy an inline servo reverser. Ace used to make 'em, not sure but someone out there still makes them.

If the retracts are working opposite each other then reverseing them is only going to give you the same problem only opposite you need to put all your linage on one side of the wheel or split it between what you have now half on one side and half on the other rethink your linkage

futaba servos rotate opposite of hitec, so... if you can get a fut. micro you are set. or a reverser y harness, expert brand the cheapest.

Fastlash, there are 2 seperate servo's. One for the mains which is permanent part of the wing, one for the nose- obviously if I used the reverse thingy on the single end of the Y-harness it would be the same problem reversed~ DUH
what about using it between the nose servo and the split of the Y-harness that should work right ??? need more info on the inline servo reverser~
ORRR find a futaba servo for cheap ahhhh I mean inexpensive~!

the expert reversers are sold by horizon, pretty cheap. I used to have some old tower micros that were made by fut., but not any more. ts- 10's? is there any way you could relocate the nosegear pushrod to the other side of the servo arm? or both mains that way? probably not, as gear rods are a major pain, right? graves in orlando had reverser expert y's last time i was there. you might call around and see who has them.

the nose gear retract unit is actuated by a wire/ clevis that is dead center of the unit. it is not offset at all it's kinda a pain in the butt~

Maybe it's time to upgrade to a computer tx. That way all those problems are a thing of the past - just slave a spare channel to the gear switch and reverse it for the nose gear function. Best thing is no added weight of a reverses or anything other than maybe a 5 channel rx.

As Dickybird says, just open up the servo and reverse the +/- wires on the motor and pot. Done in 10 minutes with a soldering iron and costs nothing..........

2Alpha, I am using a 9-zap is that enough radio to accomplish what your saying?
I am using a hitec 555 reciever it is only 5 channels. it is a 4 channel plane- Including retracts so I do have an open channel- (I think)
aileron, elevator, throttle, retracts...........

You have more than enough radio! I fly JR but I think the setup should be similar. Set up a 100% mix of channel 5 to your gear channel then reverse the direction for channel 5 and set the end points to avoid servo stall.
On JR I set a -100% mix - that should work without reversal.

What is your channel set currently - 3 channel + gear or 4 channel +gear ? If 3 channel + gear I'm not sure it will work using rudder for aux gear because the tx already controls rudder with left stick... That mix with rudder will probably result in interaction between the two. I guess I was thinking four channel plane with 6 channel rx. Might have to go with another solution or try a 6 channel rx.

9 channel radio, 5 channel reciever, and 4 channel airplane (including gear)
i guess a 6 channel or larger reciever would do it huh? since I dont have rudder it would'nt matter to me if it interacted with the rudder (unless in dropped or partialy dropped the gear)
wait I forgot about something- steering on the ground- that is done through rudder channel....... doh!
I knew there was somethin i was missing! LOL
so i need a larger reciever OR the servo reverser- I am thinkin the reverser is just what I need at this point.

that's why i own 2 slimline 8's! .84 oz. and 8 channels. wanna trade your 555 for 1 ? probably lighter than a 555 + reverser... i am probably going to hudson this weekend, will be here the other day. if you can pick up, i'll trade but no mailing! will that help?

WildFred, if thoes recievers are so great why would you want to give one up? I mean trade......
tell me more about them, they work with hitec/ futaba crystals, etc..? if they have more channels, weigh the same or close, have the same range, and no glitching issues, why would you want to trade for a 555?

to get your bonanza flying. That's why i offered to trade an 074 for your 061, remember? I have one slimline 8 in my seniorita, and one in my combat plane. i bought one for my 1st bonanza, and the other came with my hitec eclipse 7. i also own 535, expert 6 channel (an excellent light 6 ch, is in the cap). i rarely fly more than 4 channels, but need a slimline 8 in case i do; but i got 2, and if it helps, what the heck. check out hitec's website for specs, about same price as 555, but the 555 micro flight pack a better deal.

also, the 555 has 8 channels in it, there was an article a while back about how to wire the other channels to it. probably was posted here somewhere. food for thought!

i am glad I have so many projects cause when I get fed up with one I can switch to another!
the bonanza has been kinda a flop project, i did'nt realy like the way the fuse came out and various little nitpickin things- like that plastic top glued onto the flimsy bottom piece, what the heck? the wing I was pretty proud of!
any way, I guess I'll take you up on the reciever swap Fred as i was more worried about the range issues than anything else!
it should make it a little easier-
tomorrow I am leaving for S.C. to do some serious CatFishing, and float plane flying (first time off of water) so wash me luck!
Landing Gear is cool, so long as it moves independantly of the airframe AKA: it Rotates, or RETRACTS
here's my buddy after a good frolick in the rain!

i sold my float plane to a guy who has a shop in wildwood! was a h.o.b. cheap-ass one, turquoise. when you get back let me know when you are going to be anywhere near here and i will meet you there. both receivers fly every weekend, one is in a 25 powered 1/2a pylon racer and the other is in my hovering seniorita. never any problems.

Fred, got in this evening, and had a blast flying from water, what a hoot, so now I have decided to get a HERR 1/2a float plane (a bit different from my 40 size trainer on 2 floats) the hull on this one is shaped like a boat- well you know Lanier makes a 40 and a 60 size one they look similar~
any how. I sold my Herr Bipe and I am gonna buy a new .074 and put that on the float plane! what a combo! should realy move out!
when do you want to meet to swap our recievers? I think I'll be here for a few days this week, the Hobby shop in Wildwood is Noells Hobbies, they are a decent shop- ha, I havent been there in quite a while- ya want to meet some where? or what?
