Default Tyro and a .10?

Would a O.S .10 LA be too little power for this kit?

Nice job on the CAD work... I was too busy looking at the drawing I didn't see how big it was. How big is it? Uses a lot of wood. Bet it ain't cheap if it is scorched in USA. The Rotary engine doesn't have a size either.

The Mountain Models website gives it as 38" span and about 12-14 oz-an LA 10 should do nicely-or even a Norvel 074. Impressive CAD work in the instructions!
The MM website has it listed at $69.00 Many years ago (ca 1974-75) I flew a David Boddington 'Tyro'-which was a Brit design, on an OS Max 10 R/C-the crossflow version-and it was quite a bit bigger than the MM Tyro design-but only rudder-throttle-so flew a bit slower than this one is likely to.

No, that should power it very nicely. And whoa, talk about raising the bar for all of us when it comes to construction manual illustrations! [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

This does look like a scaled down version of the David Boddington designed Tyro Major, mentioned earlier. I have a Tyro Major that I scratch built a couple of years ago and it is quite a bit bigger than this and flies well on a 20 s stroke or a 25 4 stroke. Not very fast, but stable and durable.
The LA10 should fly yours very well. And I see it has dual aileron servos. Nice touch.

MJD,
It is a tough call. Some manuals double the build time of the project and are best unopened.

Now that I see the top view, I realize it is something of a scaled down Kadet with a simpled-up fuselage. Not original, but a nice idea in that size.
