Update.... i pulled the needle valve and throttle body apart on the TT.... the o-ring around the needle had a small piece missing. It wasn't torn, but there was an obvious chunk gone, the o-ring was definitely flat on one side. I'm hoping I can replace that o-ring and fix my troubles with this little engine. Maybe it was just a small vacuum leak after all, I sure hope that's it. Going to tear down the rest and inspect it thoroughly, something I should've done from the get-go. I'd hate to mount up a new engine, after the ghastly things I did to the front end to make the GP07 fit. [

Finally did what I should have done after pulling the motor from the box.... take it completely apart and clean it. In addition to the damaged needle valve O-ring there was no o-ring at all on the backplate. New parts are on the way, should have another report by the end of the weekend.
