Default G-Mark .061 R/C engine.

Hi Guys,

I'm getting several 1.0cc engines together to put on a famous auction site next week and decided to include my G-Mark .061.

There have been guys here who mentioned wishing they had one so I'm just giving a heads-up.

One interesting feature was a choice of beam or radial mount backplates.

That is the scarce first 'Seagull 061" model-quite clunky and heavy compared to the later 061 in its various forms-std, R/C, heli/car and marine. I had one many years ago but traded it still NIB, as it was too heavy for my planned usage. IIRC it came in a large-ish (for the engine size) orange and blue box with a plastic slide on sleeve, all the later ones came in transparent coloured plastic boxes with a foam insert

It weighs 3.2 ozs on my digital postal scale. Could be a collectible or used in a model. It's pretty close to new condition. It takes a short regular RC plug.

I put that G-Mark .061 up for auction today, along with seventeen other nice 1.0cc engines.

Here's the G-Mark and you should be able to find my other stuff. I should be putting new stuff up each week.

This is mainly for info for the guys who mentioned before they would be interested in some of my engines if I were to sell them.

Dan, thanks for sharing this part of your collection. I hope it finds a good home and hope the selling price rewards you handsomely for taking such good care of it..

Speaking of which, I had a later model .061. Had it for many years, it saw a fair amount of use. Always run with castor in the fuel. Brought it out to run after a couple years sitting in my damp and cold barn, hit it with the starter and the front of the crank broke off. It was simply rusted through and through. You could say it was rode hard and put away wet.

Somewhere here in my vast library of engines, I have a G-Mark .06 CL motor. I'm sure the crank is still good... You want it? Cover postage is all I ask.

DD, thanks very much.....but I gave the rest of it away some time ago.
Run with open exhaust and a larger venturi, these engines put out pretty good! [X(]

Thanks, CP,

I also have a MP Jets .061 RC diesel, a MP Jets .061 RC glo and a Norvel .07 RC that I might put up on ebay soon. Two are NIB and the other is like new.

I have a few hundred engines that I may sell off including three Oliver Tiger Cub .09's and a Barbini B.38 1.0cc.

I'm glad to hear that, I have an RC motor with the car muffler on it that is a real dog. It shows promise though-It's got 1/2 hour on it and still won't hold a peak needle. It was a parts-assembled motor from Charlie's RC, and I think the screws they used for the carb are too long as they protrude into the carb spigot. I haven't touched it since maybe 1995, it might be time to give it another go.

DD-my experience of a std 061 NIB is they take quite a bit of running in-mine hasn't been run for the past twenty years but after 30 mins bench running on a 6x3 it was still tight-and wouldn't hold a peak setting-so yours might well take quite a bit of running till its right as well. Hopefully rewarded with a long useful life.............

Thanks, Chris-that's good to hear. I had intended it to be used in a 'special' sport airframe and shelved it for it's lackluster running. At the time I thought it might have an air leak and was getting into the new cheap high performance Russian engines so it was forgotten quickly.

Dave,

I'll take that crank. I can always stuff it into something. PM me if it's still available. I have Paypal.

BTW, CP sent me the muffler so that I could rebuild mine. Still have not got around to that but maybe this fall.

Thanks CP, appreciated and not forgotten.

The one I hope to re-build soon came around after I shaved the head for more compression. Worth a try.

Is that because of its resemblance to a British Seagull outboard motor..?

Nope-bore no resemblance whatsoever to the Seagull outboard. The smaller 0.5cc model was marketed as the 'Humming Bird 03' so I guess they had a bird theme going.....this is what the original G-Mark Seagull 061 looked like....

Was the .061 used as a marine motor. A water jacket available at any time?

I believe so-though I've never seen one in the flesh-and a car version with typical big heat sink head was definitely produced. ......

Yes, there was a car version too. It has a larger diameter head, not the higher/taller style ones that seem popular on other engines nowadays.

sometimes I feel like an idiot-especially after writing the quoted line above-I have one-bought on Ebay a number of years back-which I converted back to aero (which wasn't a difficult task)-anyway-I've just put it back to marine form to take these pictures...

I should comment that I've never run it as a marine unit..........I removed the cooling clamp, removed the flywheel, stud and universal and fitted a normal 3mm socket head bolt and spinner from a Brodak Mk1 049...

That engine has a Dumas cooling clamp that was designed for the Cox .049 but will fit other half-A engines.

That's the way I bought it-it was never stated as being OEM, so I never knew for sure. Presumably the flywheel and universal are from Dumas as well.... I suppose only someone in Japan will be able to confirm if a factory produced marine variant exists.......Japanman?
