Hi folks,

Yeah, it's in a boat, but check out this 1/2A engine. Brass crankcase and cylinder, silver soldered (or just soldered). I havenot taken it out to disassemble yet, but this shows a fair amount of detail.

Any ideas what the hey this is? Homebrew special with commercial internals?

Back when men were men, that engine would have been a nice afternoon project for a pack of Boy Scouts.

Amen to that! I have a stack of old Popular Mechanics from the 40's and projects like this were the norm. I'd be willing to bet that this is a home-built, and I betcha it ran quite well too! MJD - you may want to send Ron Chernich a note and see if he or any one of his 'boys has a clue ([email protected]).

Good idea, a bit better than the scattergun approach. Will do.
