Default TD .010 parts needed

One of the guys at the field gave me an old TD .010, but the plastic portion of the crankcase has started to deteriorate. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement?

Here's a picture of everything he gave me. The tray looks like part of the packaging from a Thermal Hopper.

Here's a closeup showing the damaged plastic parts. I have a spare tank, so I only need the front piece.

I don't think that's deterioration. I suspect he tried to run or clean it with lacquer thinner or something equaly as silly. It looks like the plastic was dissolved.

It almost looks like the plastic rotted away where the fuel line was touching it. I just took the fuel tank off and it looks like it has never been run.

Default deja vu

Either he just tried to sell that on eBay or he just got it on eBay cause I looked and seriously considered buying that about 2 weeks ago.

I long ago deleted the link but I am sure of it.

and for all of your Cox needs

www.competitionma.com

the great Darrin Albert!!!

if not him, Diceybird has the number for the COx factory, I guess they are good about that stuff too.

I doubt he bought it on eBay. He's in his 80's and doesn't have a computer. He's been modelling since his childhood.

Thank you for the link. It looks like it will be very helpful.

BF:

And the package bottom is for a Space Hopper rather than the Thermal Hopper.

Thermal Hopper - rear intake, radial mount. Space Hopper - rear intake, beam mount.

Bill.

Hey man, just ask me first..

I pm'd you, I have a NIP red cox 010 housing I will send you for free. I dont need it right now, so it may as well go to someone that does.

If you need a tank (I know you have one) I have 4 or 5 NIP as well but they are the black ones.

Email me your address:

[email protected]

PS the cox tanks and housings are nylon, they will NOT "melt" withlacquer thinnners. I soak my parts in industrial lacquer thinnners for days and havent wrecked any yet.

I knew I could count on someone in this group to come through. I'm not too worried about the tank because I can always go with an external. I am short a venturi for another .010 though, but I don't want to sound needy.

I'd like to give you something for it. If you don't want money, then how about a plan?

Venturi - you mean the NV assembly or just the part that screws into the crab body?

I MAY have one... will have to dig deep in the parts..

Sure, a plan sounds nice. Surprise me!

It was not cleaned in laquer thinner or anything like that. For certain years, Cox used fuel line that reacted with the plastic, I have seen MANY tee dees that had the same problem yours does. Nobody's fault but cox's. Disheartening to find a new old stock engine in a sealed package with the same symptoms, but it has happened many times to me. Find a new crankcase part, use the old tank as just a mount.
