Ken Willard's "Duckling" for G-Mark .030 RC - are 4 channels too many?
 

Hello everyone

I need some advice with my first nitro powered airplane (I just built and flown Eflite 2s-size electrics till now, like 80 g AUW)
For these winter holidays I gave myself the task to finally build something for my G-Mark .030 RC that's waiting to be used since a couple of years.
I decided to go for the Duckling, a small 25' ws seaplane (see attached files)
I would like to add ailerons.. should I then reduce the dihedral? Should I modify the wing to a double-surface design or could I just add ailerons to the original single-surface undercambered wing?
Would 4.4 - 5.5 grams servos be enough for this little bird?

Fun project, just the kind that I enjoy. I personally would stay with rudder control and the diehedral as designed - simplicity is nice.

However, if you do go to ailerons, I think the cambered sheet format for the wing remains fine - no need to change to a full section wing.

That servo size should be fine from a power perspective, though often the smaller servos don't do so well with vibration of glow powerplants. A 6g direction for servos might be a better option.

Ken Willard. haven't heard that name in years.

I wouldn't add to much to the plane as that engine wasn't that strong as the TD 20 had more power. If at or below the weigh advertised on the plans then should be of but don't expect to the power you're used with today's powered planes.
