He will always remember this first plane of his. Too bad so many kids are too entranced with TVs and Video Games to do likewise.

Good to see you're posting again. There are not too many of the old group still around. CP keeps everyone in line and shames the rest of us into reading and posting on occasion. Your son has a good start on building; keep us up to date on the progress and hopefully on his learning to fly.

I'm still following too! I will definitely be building an LST trainer in the future. I haven't taken the time to break out the building board yet, but I did build a Manwin C/L trainer recently (haven't maidened it yet) and I got a Midwest 1/2A profile C/L trainer reworked and ready to go for this summer. Maybe my son and I can knock out the LST while he's home this summer. He's 21, but we really enjoyed some flying while he was home on spring break (him on the buddy box), so maybe I can get him interested in building as well. :) Watching with interest!

I'm trying to show him a little bit of everything as we go along. How to make to torque rods from scratch, how to thread rods with a die etc.

More progress. My Son has decided he wants electric power. I bought a 480 Outrunner thinking it would be about the power of a Norvel .074, but it spins a 10" to 12" prop and the landing gear would be way to long and splindly, so I robbed the motor out of a Seawind.

Giorgio..be extra careful around those electric motors..! They start up so much easier than fuel powered engines do, all it takes is just 1 forgetful moment to see what the inside of your hand looks like.

That's right CP. That's why I program one of the switches on my radio to disable the motor until I'm ready to fly. I know the speed controls have an arming sequence, but I like the extra bit of safety the switch provides.

Giorgio is designing the colour scheme, but I'm demonstrating how to cover more than teaching it. lol

The Seawind motor with an 8X6 prop that the Seawing uses, plus a 3 cell 1000-1300 LiPo will give you some great performance.

Yeah, I figured since it's got more wing area and less weight than the Sea Wind, it should be plenty of power.

Windows look great. Never thought of just printing them. The gradient makes all the diference in the world. Nice touch on the outline too, gives it a 3d look.
