Cox Reed Valve
I needed a reed for my black widow so I just bought the cox overhaul kit #1300 and It had a metal reed included(not copper brass or mylar, SILVER COLORED METAL!!). It ls a circle w/ both sides cut off almost like an oval shape. will this reed work w/ the "G" spring on the widow?? This must be the problem or else Im hallucinating I have tried everything and this is my last option!! I have been trying to get this thing runnin for weeks! I just wanna be a good cox owner!!

no reason why it shouldnt work, but i think the mylar and silver reeds like you have are sold with the newer plastic cage reed retainer. But if it works, it works!
If not I can set you up with a copper reed and retainer... AJC |

The last time I talked to Cox, they said they were supplying stainless steel reeds. supposed to be better than mylar, and work as well as the copper, but no corrosion from fuel.

See Cox black widows are Sexy!!!!
Not one of you Norvelites' BigMigs wear a G-Spring........
Seriously..... I pulled open a backplate motor I picked up at a swap meet, and found the same little silver reed. It was a surprise...... I had not seen one of those before. I have always had the copper, or the white or clear mylar reed. |
