Default Transmiter gets warm

I just replaced the batteries in an old Futaba "G" series 7 channel transmitter. The nicd batteries came from Mpi. The voltage is correct but the MAH capacity is twice what was in the original batteries (1100 mah vs. 500 mAH). When I turn on the tX the transmitter module on the back of the transmitter gets warm. Not hot, but warm. I transmitters of all types, (communication, transponder, etc.) generate heat. But I don't ever recall feeling a Futaba transmitter getting warm.

Should I be concerned or am I dreaming??
