Not totally true. One will miss some mailings of the magazine depending on how late.

There IS a penalty with AMA - you pay for 12 months, but only receive coverage for the remainder of the year.
Officers of AMA-chartered clubs must be AMA members - although being removed as a club officer might be a reward to some folks!
